Spotlight On Location Professional – Mark Fristad

Mark Fristad scouting the Metolius River area in central Oregon

After attending art school here in the Pacific NW, I started my career as a graphic designer and soon moved up in rank as an advertising art /creative director. After ten years in advertising, I changed paths slightly to become a fashion photography art director working for many U.S. apparel brands. After many years of traveling the world on one shoot production after the other, I decided to find a occupation here in Oregon that would provide more stability for my family and I. Spotlight On Location Professional – Mathew Noack

Mathew Noack at the top of the Gorge, Oregon.
Born and raised a boy scout in rural Oregon, Mathew Noack is a true son of the state. Upon graduating high school, he dug deep into the Oregon soil, pulled up his roots and posted sail. Catching eastward winds, he landed in Colorado, Texas and eventually Florida. This is where he completed his film degree at what was then Full Sail Real World Education, now Full Sail University.
Returning to Oregon, he spent seven years trying to find a sustainable place for himself in the media production industry.

Spotlight on Rocky Garrotto

Location Scout and 1st AC

“I love location scouting – it’s like a treasure hunt.”

In a smaller market like Southern Oregon, you have to wear multiple production hats to work year-round, and so in addition to still photography I also shoot video, edit, and often work as a 1st AC. But I really love location scouting – it’s like a treasure hunt. Being versatile and tech-savvy comes in handy when using various software and logistical GPS app tools, such as “Where Am I” for longitude, latitude, altitude and address information. Spotlight On Location Professional – Mike Floyd

Mike Floyd on Mount Hood: Photo by Rob Jenkins
The stunning landscapes of Oregon have been a great inspiration for the past 25 years.  I have been exploring and photographing around Oregon and the NW since 1993.
After graduating from photo school at the Rochester Institute of Technology and a couple years as the park photographer for Yosemite National Park, I found my way to Portland and have been loving it ever since.
Several years as a photo assistant and photographer gave me the experience to know what a crew may need from a location, and what may go wrong once the crew is on site.
