OPB is celebrating the power of independent films with the OPB Independent Film Festival all month long on OPB TV.
Each weeknight at 10 p.m. from August 10-24, enjoy a documentary film from the POV and Independent Lens libraries. The festival wraps up with the annual OPB series Oregon Lens from August 24-28, which showcases the diverse work of local filmmakers.

The Northwest Film Center has a Dialogue Writing class that starts Wednesday July 1. Taught by local award-winning writer and director Steve Doughton (Buoy, 2012) the class includes writing exercises meant to unlock your artist’s toolbox, deconstructing scenes from films (Cassavetes and Mamet!), and a session with actors in-class. Over five class sessions you’ll work with Steve to put your ideas into practice while gaining a formal understanding of screenplay structure and dialogue styles. The feature length motion picture Reconciler is on its way to Cannes! Produced and distributed by native Northwest companies, the feature film Reconciler has been picked up for international distribution and will be showcased this week at the internationally renowned Festival de Cannes, by Black Wolf Media. Reconciler was produced in Oregon by Justice Pictures, in association with IMD Films — both native Northwest companies.
