“Birds of Neptune” Will Screen Opening Night At The Portland Film Festival

 

BONposterplainBirds of Neptune, an independent film by Steven Richter, will be the Opening Night narrative feature at this year’s Portland Film Festival.

The film host an all Portland based cast, crew, vendors and services.  It premiered at this year’s Slamdance Film Festival and has since gone on to win Best Dramatic Feature and Best Performance at the Arizona International Film Festival.  It has also played at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival and will be playing at the AMFM FEST: Flagstaff this August.   Continue reading... ““Birds of Neptune” Will Screen Opening Night At The Portland Film Festival”

The OPB Independent Film Festival is this August

The OPB Independent Film Festival airs weeknights at 10 p.m., starting August 10.

OPB is celebrating the power of independent films with the OPB Independent Film Festival all month long on OPB TV.

Each weeknight at 10 p.m. from August 10-24, enjoy a documentary film from the POV and Independent Lens libraries. The festival wraps up with the annual OPB series Oregon Lens from August 24-28, which showcases the diverse work of local filmmakers.

NW Film Center Dialogue Writing Class Starts July 1

The Northwest Film Center has a Dialogue Writing class that starts Wednesday July 1. Taught by local award-winning writer and director Steve Doughton (Buoy, 2012) the class includes writing exercises meant to unlock your artist’s toolbox, deconstructing scenes from films (Cassavetes and Mamet!), and a session with actors in-class. Over five class sessions you’ll work with Steve to put your ideas into practice while gaining a formal understanding of screenplay structure and dialogue styles. Local Film “Reconciler” Gets International & Domestic Distribution

Produced and distributed by native Northwest companies, the feature film Reconciler has been picked up for international distribution and will be showcased this week at the internationally renowned Festival de Cannes, by Black Wolf Media. Reconciler was produced in Oregon by Justice Pictures, in association with IMD Films — both native Northwest companies.

Portland Feature Film “Birds of Neptune” Wins Big at the Arizona International Film Festival!

Portland production Birds of Neptune takes home Best Dramatic Feature at the Arizona International Film Festival, and the Special Jury Award for Best Performance to Britt Harris!   Birds of Neptune written and directed by Steven Richter, produced by Lara Cuddy, stars Britt Harris, Molly Elizabeth Parker and Kurt Conroyd.

Birds of Neptune will screen next at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival on May 29th.  Director Steven Richter and actors Britt Harris and Molly Elizabeth Parker will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening. “Green Room” Announced for Directors’ Fortnight 2015

Lower Boom Launches!

Lower Boom is a new Portland-based micro-budget film studio, talent incubator, and Film Discovery platform developer, and they are having a launch party this Monday, April 13th, at Dig a Pony (736 SE Grand).
