If you’ve ever watched IFC then you’ve seen their signature quirky-cool ad campaign. But did you know that it was designed and created by Oregon-based Feel Good Anyway? Or that the 40+ special effects in the NBC movie “A Walk in My Shoes” were done by Portland’s visual effects company Hive-FX? Or if you’ve been to Canada lately and seen Koodo Mobile’s adorable spokesman El Tabador, that he was produced by Bent Image Labs based in – you guessed it – Oregon? Following the successful effort to create a voice for the Oregon Film and Television community in this blog, we recently convened a group of Oregon animation and visual effects professionals that we know, and asked them how a site dedicated to their segment of the industry might be received. After lots of lively conversation and great ideas, it became clear that there was great interest, and that it would be very helpful for drawing attention to the fact that Oregon has more than just great locations, amazing acting and crew talent, and not to mention, a terrific film incentive program. In addition to this week’s announcement of their two new feature film projects, Oregon’s LAIKA animation studio also rolled out a newly designed website including  the beautiful video embedded above.  The video provides unique insight into who LAIKA is, and how they combine a classic hand-made artisan craft with cutting edge technology to achieve spectacular results.  And best of all, they are doing it all right here in Oregon!

LAIKA and Focus Features Announce Two New Feature Film Projects in Oregon

Northwest Film Center Offers Two New Community Meet-Up Groups

Part of the Tron franchise produced in Oregon

Yesterday in the New York Times Arts Section Adam Kepler wrote a piece about the new “Tron: Legacy” Motion comic that is out in conjunction with the feature release.  I bet you didn’t know that this was produced by an up and coming company here in Oregon.  Double Barrel Motion Labs is a growing company that has a base here in Portland and recently has shown interest in having even more of a footprint in Oregon.  Chief Executive Jeff Kreilitz called our office earlier in the year as his company started to line up a slew of new projects.  Continue reading... “Part of the Tron franchise produced in Oregon”
