Two Oregon Film Trail signs were unveiled over the week end honoring Salem’s starring role as a location for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” (the honors being done by Oregon Museum of Mental Health Museum Curator, Megan Lallier-Barron and Dennie Brooks, Board Member.) The signs mark two different filming locations related to the now classic feature film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” and feature facts and anecdotes about the film. Next up in our #OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre comes a post-apocalyptic film like no other (unless you count WATER WORLD, then, yes, it’s kind of like that). Kevin Costner’s Central Oregon shot THE POSTMAN, winner of both the prestigious Razzie and Yoga Awards, tells the story of an unnamed wanderer who retrieves a postman’s uniform and a bag of mail, and embarks on a quest to deliver the letters within.
Congratulations to, John Waller’s Uncage The Soul team with their winning pitch – “Teens In Trees” – the Outdoors and Health Film Grant 2019-20 was awarded this week. This new grant, provided by the #OregonMade Creative Foundation, and in conjunction with Travel Oregon, offers $15,000 in funding to make a short film that explores the notion that spending time outdoors can improve health outcomes for us all.
Oregon Doc Camp Fellows will receive room and board at Oregon Doc Camp in Silver Falls Conference Center from May 30-June 2nd, as well as a half hour documentary consulting session with our esteemed presenter, Iyabo Boyd.
To The Stars film is a locally produced stop-motion animated short film about a little girl with a big dream of becoming an astronaut and the inspirational tale of her adventure as she attempts to defy gravity and return a fallen star to its home in the sky
Oregonians and visitors are inspired by nature. It feeds our souls and enriches our well-being. We instinctively know that a life spent outdoors, is a life well spent indeed. Not coincidently, it also turns out that taking time off to explore and spend time in nature can heal us.
The successful Outdoors Film Grant project will tell a unique story that correlates the effects of spending time outdoors with better health and well-being.
