Yesterday at the Hollywood Theatre, the local business accelerator, Oregon Story Board presented their second Demo Day this year (first one was in January) of their eclectic class of 2015.

The Hollywood Theatre has already had a three year partnership with Open Meadow High School (OMHS), and coupled with the nearly a decade of working with under-served, middle school age youth, they will “cultivate a sustainable, community powered, school-based media arts program at OMMS, bolstering engagement with students’ families and the surrounding community, and increasing the expertise of educators in the area of media arts”. HOLLYWOOD THEATRE LAUNCHES NEW FILM EDUCATION PROGRAMS Opens Media Lab, “Hollywood Theatre Studio” at Grant High School
(Portland, OR) September 21, 2011 – This fall, as funding for the arts in schools continues to face significant cuts, the nonprofit Hollywood Theatre is piloting multiple education programs, affording hundreds of young people the opportunity to explore filmmaking and animation.
The biggest animation festival that Oregon has seen in years is just around the corner. From Beaverton to Beijing, filmmakers have responded to our call, sending in their best work. Even the most seasoned animators on our jury agree: this is going to be something special.

The 2012 Northwest Animation Festival showcases nearly 60 short films from 15 countries, representing the very best of contemporary animation.
Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POWFest), the Hollywood Theatre and NW Documentary are excited to announce “A Night with Barbara Kopple and Ellen Ratner,” taking place Friday, May4th 2012.
The evening includes a reception; director’s screening of A Force of Nature; and a live Q&A with Academy Award ® Winning Director, Kopple, as well as the subject of the film, philanthropist, Ellen Ratner.
The new seats have been installed in the main auditorium of the Hollywood Theatre! We’ve also repainted, and replaced the curtains in the theater. These changes are in addition to our new sound system and new screen. A huge thanks to everyone who supported our seat campaign! We never could have accomplished this without you.
