Hawai’i “lava drama” Stoke premieres in Portland at the Clinton Street Theater on Friday, July 26 at 7pm, with filmmakers in attendance. I wrote, produced and co-directed Stoke, an island-take on the road film genre as weird and wild as Hawai’i (and Portland) itself.

Shot on Hawai’i island, my home locale and the location of the tumultuous volcanic activity during the summer of 2018, Stoke follows an entitled tourist who hires two wannabe tour guides to take her to the Kilauea volcano, exploring themes of impermanence, grief, and reverence to nature. New Stop-Motion Independent Film celebrating the iconic Oregon wolf named Journey

The short film Nowheres Wolf: A Call Not Answered is inspired by the life of Oregon’s famous wolf named Journey, aka OR-7. The film is mid-production and starting to take off, hitting some heartfelt points in the film and animation industry including developing non-toxic building materials for artists and makers as well as advocating for local wildlife.

In an interview with Oregon Wild, Nowheres Wolf creator Suzanne Moulton shared “I’m a big believer in “Think Globally, Act Locally” so I’ve focused on inspiring people to take small actions at home that can make a big difference in whether a local species dies or thrives. The second annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG19) announces the winning application – “Three Sisters, Three Rivers” – filmmakers Aly Nicklas, Meredith Meeks and Analise Cleopatra, will spend ten days this summer bikepacking 325 miles through some of Oregon’s most iconic landscapes. Beginning in Bend and ending near Roseburg, the film will address both barriers and entry points for access to wilderness—especially for those of us who are raised without a relationship to the outdoors. “I love location scouting – it’s like a treasure hunt.”

In a smaller market like Southern Oregon, you have to wear multiple production hats to work year-round, and so in addition to still photography I also shoot video, edit, and often work as a 1^st AC. But I really love location scouting – it’s like a treasure hunt. Being versatile and tech-savvy comes in handy when using various software and logistical GPS app tools, such as “Where Am I” for longitude, latitude, altitude and address information. Oregon Film & Oregon State Parks Plant 50 Trees in Celebration of 50 Years Of Oregon Film Office (Plus The First Historic Oregon Film Trail Sign Is Installed)

The Oregon Film Office and Oregon State Parks planted 50 Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Douglas-fir, and Western Hemlock seedlings conifer trees at Gleneden Beach State Recreation site to mark the 50th anniversary of the Oregon Film Office and its long standing collaboration with Oregon State Parks.

Additionally, at this site, a sign was erected as part of the recently created the Historic Oregon Film Trail. The sign indicates that the movie, “Sometimes A Great Notion” was filmed very close to the park and in and around the Siletz River area. August 6th, 2018: The OregonMade Creative Foundation, Northwest Film Center and Playa Summer Lake announce the winner for the 2nd annual Playa residency award.

The Screenwriter’s Residency program, now in its second year, received over 30 pitches, proposals and outlines from screenwriters, filmmakers and related creators focusing on a new take on an old genre – The Western. Projects needed to be set in the Northwest but not necessarily all in Oregon, while writers needed to be current Oregon residents.
