The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, southern Oregon) is well known for it’s high caliber theatre performances. Lesser know is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Costume Rentals. OSFCR is a full-service costume rental facility that features around 100,000 costumer pieces designed and made in-house. OSFCR has been renting costumes since 2004 but only started renting to the film and TV market for the past 6 years. They have been successful, with many repeat customers, from primetime shows on NBC, ABC, HBO, TNT, as well as many feature films. On Monday I made the trip down to Southern Oregon for a few meetings, events and a nice meal or two! I was asked by NBC Affiliate KOBI to come in and talk about the recent film and video success in Oregon. Here’s a link to the second half of the interview. Great Film Festival Programming in Ashland and Eugene Coming in April

Once again in April Oregon is home to a series of great film festivals in consecutive weeks. The eleventh annual Ashland Independent Film Festival is happening April 12-16. This year the festival is honoring acclaimed director Julie Taymor. With Ms. Taymor’s experience in both live theater and film, it makes perfect sense that Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch will join Ms. Taymor on stage for a certain lively and engaging discussion. One Night Only – World Premiere: A Midsummer Night’s Dream In Prison

With editor Enie Vaisburd (Pacific University), Ellen Thomas (Educational Director PAMCut) co-lead the Portland creative team which just completed experimental filmmaker, Bushra Azzouz’s new feature documentary, A Midsummer Night’s Dream In Prison. The film is about a group of inmates at the Two Rivers Correctional Facility in Umatilla who put on a Shakespeare play and, in the process, reimagine their lives.

The World Premiere is Sunday, August 7, 6pm at Cinema 21. A number of the inmates, now released, will be in attendance for a post film Q&A.

Yes, Adam West is this week’s featured artist in a Deschutes National Forest set feature which predates Mr. West’s glorious days as the first caped crusader to appear on our screens and sends him into the woods to find unexpected love with a Nature Child and danger from rogue hunters in the form of Petticoat Junction’s Lori Sanders and Theo Marcuse, respectively. The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) announced the highly anticipated juried and audience award-winning films for work screened at the 16th annual festival, April 6-10, 2017. “I’m particularly pleased that the audience chose different films to award than the juries,” said festival director Richard Herskowitz. “Since many of our films this year deserved special recognition, I’m glad we were able to hand out local artisan Dennis DeBey’s beautiful statuette to so many deserving artists.”

Emmerich will headline Concordia University’s Shakespeare Authorship Research Centre’s Fall Conference, Sept. 6-9 in Portland, Ore. His new film, Anonymous, speculates on a centuries-old question – did William Shakespeare really write the works attributed to him? – and offers one possible answer.
