The first screening of its kind — “Arc” is a theatrical program dedicated to the art, creativity and complexity of animated infographics. As its name suggests, the screening lies at the confluence of storytelling and data visualizations — an intersection that will be appeal to interaction designers, journalists, writers, researchers, number-junkies and analysts.

FiLMLaB’s “Script-to-Screen” Competition

Willamette Writers is soliciting entries for the 2013 FiLMLaB’s “Script-to-Screen” short film scriptwriting competition.

Shooting our winning script from last year, “Alis Volat Propriis.”

We seek writers with the ability to tell a compelling story quickly and cinematically, while adhering to a theme and a practical eye towards real-life movie production. Unique to scriptwriting contests, the Script-to-Screen Competition grand prize is this: we will produce a short film based on the winning script! The winning writer will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with our production team, attend the filming–in short, to experience the collaborative process of filmmaking! Eastern Oregon Film Festival Releases 2013 Festival Program and Sets Stage for Feb. 28 – March, 2nd in La Grande

EOFF2013 is the fourth annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival held in La Grande, OregonFebruary 28th – March 2nd, 2013. EOFF features an amazing line-up of emerging independent feature and short films. 36th Portland International Film Festival in February

 

The Northwest Film Center is poised to yet again unleash PIFF excitement on film audiences of the Portland Metro area.  The Opening Night presentation of the 36th Portland International Film Festival (PIFF) hits on Thursday, February 7th at the Newmark Theatre (1111 SW Broadway) with this year’s Spanish submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, BLANCANIEVES, a 1920s, silent- set reworking of the Brothers Grimm fairytale “Snow White,” offset by punchy Flamenco rhythms and full of imagination.

Beginning Friday, February 8th, PIFF expands to take over a clutch of venues across town, including the Whitsell Auditorium in the Portland Art Museum, Cinema 21, Cinemagic, Regal Fox Tower, World Trade Center, and Regal Lloyd Center 10. “Portlandia” Winter Special and Season 3 Guest Star Lineup

Good news for fans of “Portlandia”: the hiatus is almost over and new episodes will be airing soon. Season 3 of the IFC show starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein kicks off on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10pm.  If that seems like a long time to wait for your “Portlandia” fix, there’s more good news: a special new episode, “Winter in Portlandia,” airs on Friday, December 14th at 10:30/9:30c.
