“Rid of Me” trailer online as O’Grady and Westby ready for theatrical release

Local Film “Rid of Me” Secures Distribution with Phase 4

“Rid of Me”, directed, written, and produced by James Westby and Produced by star Katie O’Grady has been acquired by Phase 4 films.  The film has already had great success in several film festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival earlier in the year.  As announced today in Deadline Hollywood the film will get a theatrical release through the deal.  Phase 4 has a wide array of titles in it’s catalog most recently being Kevin Smith’s “Red State”.  No details on the exact release date but the announcement referenced a fall date. Daisy Ridley, (Star Wars prequel trilogy) recently shared her thoughts on the movie Sometimes I Think About Dying” and her experiences filming in Oregon. Ridley portrays Frances, a young woman dealing with anxiety and despair, in this thought-provoking movie that recently premiered in competition at Sundance. During the filming, Ridley spent time in Astoria and on the Oregon Coast, and she had nothing but good things to say about these locations.

Outside the Frame: Riders in the Storm

Outside the Frame hosts a screening of new films from their members – good films about a bad year by homeless and marginalized youth – at the Hollywood Theatre on September 30.

This screening features a variety of short films: music videos about the Movement for Black Lives featuring Mic Crenshaw and the Oregon Symphony, documentaries about grassroots, government, and healthcare efforts during COVID, and more.

NW Documentary’s Les Voyageurs To Screen At Telluride Mountain Film

Telluride Mountain Film is “an annual festival, a worldwide tour, a diverse community and a champion for change.”  Les Voyageurs Sans Trace’s story follows three French kayakers who descended the Colorado River in 1938 to explore the American West and filmed their feat in color film. The 16mm color film predates Hollywood’s first color movie, The Wizard of Oz, and is the first color adventure film. Come to the OMPA Classic Golf, Wine or Bike Tour this Friday

If you only get to one event for Oregon’s film and television industry this year, you should make it out to Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River for the OMPA Classic this Friday. The event benefits the Oregon Media Production Association, an institution of Oregon’s crew, vendors, producers and actors that for 30-years has advocated for growth in Oregon’s production industry.
