The queerest weekend at OSF is back—digitally! From July 17-19, Pride content will take over the OSF O! digital platform and their social media accounts. Join them for creative content from your favorite queer OSF artists, deep conversations about queer art and activism, and a digital drag show and dance party on Saturday night!
The auction takes place from Monday, September 28 at 9a to Friday, October 2 at 5p.
$14M of Oregon state tax credits will be auctioned off with a 90% minimum bid.
The Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) is a state incentive program that directly supports the continued growth of Oregon’s creative film, television and interactive industry. OPIF is funded by the sale of discounted Oregon income tax credits to taxpayers who contribute to the fund. Residents and businesses bid at auction to purchase state tax credits at up a 10% discount that can then be used for up to three years on their state income taxes.
Tomorrow OMPA’s virtual Creatives of Color Collaborative will be hosted by Karina Lomelin Ripper. Karina is a first generation Mexican-American and an independent director and producer. She is also the co-chair of the Portland Film Fatales.
You may have seen Karina’s work with Fort Ripper for clients like Google, Facebook, and Nike; or shows for National Geographic’s Destination WILD, The Discovery Channel, HBO Films and A&E Films.

In 2015, I attended the national Rainbow Family gathering alone. I had never been to anything like this and I definitely felt like an outsider; especially since I was trying to make this somewhat discreet documentary. I wasn’t really sure what my goal was when I set out to make this. I know I definitely wasn’t interested in teaching anyone anything about Rainbow. Instead, this video is just the result of me experience Rainbow alone, processing it, and shyly taking my camera out once in a while to steal some moments.
PDX Short Docs is a platform for local independent filmmakers to show their short documentaries on the big screen. Due to the pandemic, the program is going online! Included films feature a story from the Portland area or are produced by local filmmakers (or both). Join the filmmakers for a Zoom chat on Wednesday, July 15 at 5pm, where the art of documentary filmmaking and the issues facing Portland will be discussed.

Applications opened July 7th for the NW Film Center and Portland Art Museum Artist Fund.
The Re:Imagine Artist Fund, an expanded initiative to support visual, cinema arts, and new media artists, both to provide immediate assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to sustain their creative practices long-term. The Fund will provide emergency relief grants and longer-term sustainability grants, as well as increase programming stipends to artists from across Oregon and Clark County, Washington. At this critical moment of change, it is crucial to the health of our arts ecosystem to distribute resources, and PAM/NWFC joins the important relief efforts of area organizations indirectly supporting artists.

“First Cow,” shot entirely on location in Oregon last year. “A taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although its longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner’s prized milking cow.

Today POW Film Fest is launching POW TV, a virtual viewing station for discovering stories told by women and non-binary filmmakers.
The past few months have provided many of us with the opportunity to watch a lot more films and tv series. Most often we turn to the big streaming platforms for this entertainment, but more and more of those big platforms are becoming saturated with the “bad tv” that was once the fluff of networks and cable tv. POW feels compelled to provide an alternative to the played out motto: Netflix and Chill, by offering great films that have finished their festival run, but that not all of us have had opportunities to see or learn about.
