One of the cool things about the animation/VFX industry is that it’s continually evolving beyond the established parameters. The artistry of a well generated scene or special effects sequence is now no longer confined to a piece of film, but has also begun to take on an interactive element as video games move closer to the cinematic boundary.

(sub)Urban Projections 2011: Call to Artists

(sub)Urban Projections invites artists from all over the Pacific NW to submit proposals for digital video work to be displayed in downtown Eugene’s inaugural projection art festival!

Planned as a free festival for November 2011, (sub)Urban Projections will serve as a forum for emerging artists to experiment and showcase their work, transforming back alleys of downtown into a stimulating experience for contemporary art and media, allowing the community to re-imagine and re-interpret the city’s public space.

Local filmmaker shoots original scenes for Portland actors!

Local filmmaker Todd E. Freeman is offering a $100 discount for his final spots in this summer season of his series for Portland Actors shot on the Red One Camera.

Todd Freeman has been making feature films for 14 years.  He’s been a cinematographer on 14 feature films, edited eight feature films and written and directed seven feature films.  He has also shot and edited a series of documentaries in the former Soviet Union, and Wales.  He attended Columbia College Hollywood with a focus on feature film production.

Oregon creatives recognized with 2011 Emmy Nominations

As Television aficionados know, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and amongst the nominees were several Oregon based filmmakers and companies!

HBO’s acclaimed mini-series “Mildred Pierce” was the most recognized program with 21 nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special for Todd Haynes and Jon Raymond – both Oregon based writers/filmmakers – and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special for Todd Haynes.

Main Cast of Supernatural Thriller “Nightscape” Announced

MAIN CAST OF SUPERNATURAL THRILLER “NIGHTSCAPE” ANNOUNCED


Portland, Oregon—Writer-director David W. Edwards announced the main cast for his first feature film, Nightscape. The film stars, in alphabetical order: Emily Galesh, LaVerne Green, Joshua St. James and Jorge Madrid. The film shoots later this month in and around Portland.

 

In Nightscape, an emotionally guarded drifter, Kat (Galesh), crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. The drifter must learn to trust again if she is to end a lifetime of bad luck and to help her newfound companions survive the growing chaos and carnage.
