As most in the local animation industry know, Bent Image Lab has been growing at a steady rate and yesterday the Hallmark Channel announced a project that Bent has been working on this year – “Jingle All the Way”. LAIKA Creates Trailer For New Colin Meloy Book

As if being the lead singer of one of the most highly-thought of bands around wasn’t enough, Colin Meloy – front man for the Decembrists – has added author extraordinaire to his list of titles. His children’s book Wildwood, the first in a series, is set to hit stores August 30^th.

Wildwood is the story of Prue McKeel, a young girl who must adventure into the Impassible Wilderness on the edge of Portland, Oregon after her baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows.

Golf in the Kingdom – Special Screening

“Golf In The Kingdom” adapted from the well read 1970’s classic novel by Michael Murphy (and shot on location at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Oregon) will screen at McMenamins Edgefield on August 6th – events from 4.30PM onwards.

“Grimm” at Comic-Con

“Grimm” may not make its Primetime debut till October 21st, but it did make an appearance at Comic-Con last week. Besides screening the pilot – which the completely packed audience loved – writers/producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, as well as cast members David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bitsie Tulloch, Reggie Lee and Sasha Roiz took part in a Panel Q&A monitored by Anthony Head.

HD/Film Makeup Workshops Returning to Portland

Colour Box Makeup Studios founder Kerry Herta returns to Portland Aug. 31-Sept. 5 to teach aspiring makeup artists the latest techniques used in the entertainment and beauty industries.

Herta, a 2011 Daytime Emmy nominee, previously taught her signature workshops – the five-day Makeup Artist Boot Camp and one-day Airbrush Seminar – in Portland in June. The new dates will accommodate the growing waiting list of artists who couldn’t enroll in the last class.

The exclusive workshops are again limited to 12 aspiring artists, all of whom will be trained by Herta and complete assignments using live models and industry-leading products and equipment.
