Alright good Portlanders – many Bothans died to bring you this message so huddle up and listen close. After months of prep, the first VFX/PDX meeting is ON like Krylon – and set for this THURSDAY! Numero Uno is not to be missed.
Fred Ruff, Visual Effects Supervisor and Lead CG Artist at Bent Image Lab, will be presenting a giant platter of Bent’s recent tasty work in detail.
In 2010 Mayor Willis Van Dusen declared June 7 to be “Goonies Day” to commemorate the release of the film back in 1985. This weekend Astoria will be host to several activities to honor the film that keeps on giving to the community. Most notably Astoria’s visitor center has organized a scavenger hunt for the visiting die-hard fans.
“The Goonies” impact on Astoria has been told over and over but it never ceases to amaze. If you visit the Oregon Film Museum you will be stunned to see just how many fans come and visit leaving behind a note marking how much the film means to them.
Thanks to the efforts of many local crew and vendors this year, a float featuring “Grimm” and the many families working in Oregon’s film industry was in this year’s Starlight Parade. Naturally the Lawson family was front and center but also included on the float was Sarah Burton, Crofton Dyack, Michael Koerner, several cast members from “Grimm” and others. I’m not sure who was the person wearing the cat mask from the show but they seemed to have a good time.
Business Communicators will be coloring on the tables, playing games, answering riddles and hopscotching up to the bar for a Primary Color Cocktail on June 6 at the Benson Hotel when Steve Gehlen, co-founder of Oregon Creative Industries and chairman of the Portland Creative Conference presents, “Creativity is Child’s Play: Ten Lessons from Top Creatives” at the annual IABC Bronze Beacon Awards.
Gehlen has met countless revered creatives like Steve Buscemi, Martin Sheen, Wes Craven and many others who have spoken at the Portland Creative Conference over the years, and he’ll be sharing what he’s learned from them about sparking one’s own creativity.

PORTLAND, Oregon (June 4, 2012) Just two weeks ago Cell Count was Closing Night Film at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil and the World Premiere was a huge success. The scheduled showing was over capacity and a second theater had to be added to accommodate all of the genre loving fans that came out to see the film. Now it is Polluted Pictures and Wooden Frame Production’s profound pleasure to present the new trailer as well as announce their second film festival acceptance.
With the large number of artisanal culinary talent in Oregon, it was no surprise that we were able to find an amazing local cake designer to create a masterpiece for the Grimm, Season 2 celebratory kick off press conference event. The storybook cake was made by hand from the local designer, Wrightberry’s Cakes & Cupcakes in Oregon City.
We contacted Jan Wright (owner and designer of Wrightberry’s) only last week.

The 2012 OPIF Tax Credit Auction is currently underway. Below you will find the link to the DOR tax credit auction website as well as some other important procedural information.
• Auction begins (via a website: http://www.oregon.gov/dor/PERTAX/Pages/credit-auction-info.aspx) on July 9, 2012 at 9:00am.
• The total amount of tax credits that will be auctioned is $6million
• A bidder can bid to purchase film tax credits in $500 increments. The bid amount must be at least $475 per $500 certificate.
Yesterday’s Season 2 kickoff event at the stages of “Grimm” was a great time for all to celebrate the fact that several hundred Oregonians are hard at work making the first of 22 episodes for the new season. It was also a great opportunity to feature several local vendors who have benefited in many different ways because of “Grimm” and other projects like “Leverage” and “Portlandia”. While visiting the sets of both “Grimm” and “Leverage”, Governor Kitzhaber has remarked several times about the film and television industry’s great use of the local supply chains.
Portland, OR – May 29, 2012 – Sold out screenings on May 20th made Cell Count the most attended film at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival in Porto Alegre Brazil.
Writer / Director Todd E. Freeman was at the festival for 10 days and said, “this experience changed my outlook on the worldwide filmmaking community as well as the excitement about Cell Count in International markets.” He went on to say, “Porto Alegre and the Fantaspoa Film Festival welcomed me and our movie with open and excited arms.
