Eugene, OR – The Chinese American Benevolent Association is proud to announce the 10th anniversary of the DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon, a juried, all-volunteer, grassroots celebration of independent film and social justice. DisOrient is known internationally for its warm and intimate festival experience showcasing fresh, independent films that present the vast diversity of Asian and Pacific Islander American voices and perspectives.

Bent Image Lab‘s “Polariffic” was accepted at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in the “TV Films in Competition” category.  Congratulations to the Bent team, comprising of, director Rob Shaw, producer Marissa Weisman, writer Allan Neuwirth, Music Composer Charles-Henri Avelange, and BENT Executive Producers Tsui Ling Toomer and Ray Di Carlo.  Annecy International Film Festival takes place June 15th – 20th in Annecy, France.

The 6th Annual Cinema Pacific  unveiled it’s full program  coming to Eugene April 27- May 3rd. The festival is a collaboration between the University of Oregon and the community of Eugene, and administered by U of O graduate students.  It will be featuring an “array of films, exhibitions, parties and performances” from Pacific rim countries.  An exciting part of the festival is the opening, “Adrenaline Film Project” – featuring 12 Oregon filmmaker teams that have 72 hours to create a film from pre through post production.

Documentarians – Need Finishing Funds?

Derek Freese Documentary Fund (DFDF) provides production support for feature-length documentary films that have both a strong narrative and compelling story, across a broad spectrum of subject matters. This award is given biennially to an independent filmmaker and provides up to $35,000 in finishing funds.

Ashland Independent Film Festival Opens April 9th

There is a lot going on at the 14th Ashland International Film Festival this year (view the schedule here).  Opening  April 9th and running through 13th, will be five days of quality independent films, from shorts to documentaries, screening at the Varsity Theatre, the Ashland Street Cinemas, Ashland Springs Hotel and the Historic Ashland Armory theatre.

With their quirky and ultra-stylish Pizza Schmizza social media spot hot off the press, the Revolver DMS (rDMS) team shifted gears/genres and produced a more suspense-based web spot in collaboration with tech B2B marketing agency McClenahan Bruer (McBru).

The original Producer we were working with had resigned from the project for personal reasons, and I requested a couple of bids,” explains McBru Senior Communications Counsel Tarah Hartzler. “We had a script, storyboards and a few actors who fit our needs.
