Next year for season 5 of “Leverage,” expect a few changes including a new location for the show’s stages. The truth is the new space is actually an old one that has been frequently used as a stage for several features in the past (“Extraordinary Measures,” “Twilight,” and “Untraceable”). Before this season, the space down in Clackamas was 60,000 square feet of open warehouse space which wasn’t ideal for a TV series. Eugene, OR. Friday, December 2nd is the deadline for submitting entries to the 8th Annual OpenLens Festival 2012. This year’s festival has two categories. The short film competition is for productions of 15 minutes or less in length. The screen writing competition welcomes film scripts of 15 pages or less with an emphasis on the short narrative film genre. Entries for both must be received by DIVA by 5PM on December 2nd. A nice review in The New York Times for the holiday special, “Jingle All The Way”. Bent Image Lab, a Portland, Oregon company, produced this 22 minute animated short for the Hallmark Channel over a six month period. It is set to premier this Friday 25th.
Eugene, OR. The eighth annual OpenLens Festival is pleased to announce the addition of a scriptwriting competition for 2012. Rubicon Film Productions Ltd., a Eugene based company, is sponsoring a special $250 best screenplay prize for a short narrative film. Submitted scripts of 15 pages or less will be accepted. James Westby and Katie O’Grady have taken to the streets to promote their film “Rid of Me” and I can’t sing their praises enough for the effort they’ve put forth. The film screened earlier in the year at the Tribecca film festival and received overwhelmingly positive reveiws. From that they secured a distribution deal for the film through Phase 4 films.
