“Portlandia” wins an Emmy for Costumes

Today the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced that Amanda Needham and Niki Dimitras from “Portlandia” won an Emmy for best Costumes in a Variety or Music Program.  We picked up the story from Kristi Turnquist’s post today in the Oregonian.  Amanda and Niki won the Emmy for their costume design on the episode titled “Farm” which I believe was the premiere episode of the first season (you know the one with Colin the chicken).  Congratulations to Amanda and Niki and the entire cast and crew of “Portlandia”.  Continue reading... ““Portlandia” wins an Emmy for Costumes”

Roland Emmerich at Concordia University Shakespeare Centre in Downtown Portland

My name is Francesca. I am from Italy and I am a student at Bocconi University. I am studying Economics for the Arts, and my passion for cinema brought me to become an intern at the Oregon Film Office this summer.

As an intern and a student, I will have the opportunity to attend a special event: the screening of “Anonymous,” Roland Emmerich’s latest movie. In fact, The Concordia University Shakespeare Centre will bestow the “Vero Nihil Verius Award of Artistic Excellence” to Roland Emmerich during their annual conference (September 6th 2011 -9th 2011). Master Pancake Theater – Cinema 21 – Portland – 8/13 @ 10:30 PM

What’s Master Pancake Theater? MPT is a beer-soaked show featuring raucous film commentary (in the style of MST3K) that Entertainment Weekly calls “a glorious pairing of turkey movies with live comedy.” They’ve been selling out Austin’s legendary Alamo Drafthouse for years. Now they’re heading north by northwest for the first time with a skewering of 1985’s classic teenage angstfest, “THE BREAKFAST CLUB”.

Do you like to laugh?  Do you like to drink beer?  Then you will love Master Pancake Theater.  And Master Pancake Theater will love you. Continue reading... “Master Pancake Theater – Cinema 21 – Portland – 8/13 @ 10:30 PM”
