Film Fighting Classes in Portland

I’m professional actor and fight coordinator Kendall Wells.

I’m offering classes in Portland on fight performance for film and television. I’ve been teaching for about nine years, but only recently decided to hold a regular class (twice per month). I have held a couple workshops in conjunction with Cast Iron Studios in the past, including one taught by my mentor, fight master Anthony De Longis. “The Digits” Nominated for Best Educational Web Series by IAWTV

Portland produced “Appisode” “The Digits” recently was nominated as Best Educational Web Series by the International Academy of Web Television.  The IAWTV is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of web television.  The award ceremony will be in Las Vegas during the International Consumer Electronic Show January 8.  Congrats to creator Scotti Iseri and his entire team on the nomination and best of luck in January!  Don’t know about “The Digits”?  See below their most recent media release. Join the Co-Op! Portlandia is Gearing Up for Season 3

Portlandia returns January 4th with a whole new, ten episode season of sketches.

Back in August, Portlandia’s director, Johnathan Krisel told the Oregonian that this season was “getting weirder”, so lots to look forward too then!  Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be working with some returning favorites, like Kyle MacLachlan as Portland’s fictitious mayor, as well as plenty of new characters such as Chloë Sevigny playing a new roommate for Carrie and Fred.  However, IFC didn’t want to make hardcore fans wait until January for the new season so they are showing, “Winter In Portlandia” as a special, airing December 14th. 39th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival

Northwest filmmakers put their hearts on stage this November 9-18 during the Northwest Film Center’s 39th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival.

Feature film highlights include Lynn Shelton’s YOUR SISTER’S SISTER, starring Rosemarie DeWitt, Emily Blunt, and Mark Duplass; James Westby’s RID OF ME starring Katie O’Grady; a special FREE 50th Anniversary screening of POLLUTION IN PARADISE, the 1962 KGW-8 produced film that documents the beginning of the environmental movement in Oregon that became the hallmark of former Governor Tom McCall’s tenure; and closing the Festival is Matt McCormick’s THE GREAT NORTHWEST. Oregon Film Veterans Mentoring Graduating U of O Filmmakers Wins Award

Oregon Film Veterans Katherine Wilson and Philip Krysl (with over 40 years as Oregon filmmakers and 50 Oregon Film Credits between them) mentored 10 students this last year from the U of O into the industry by helping the students produce the couples’ screenplay “Animal House of Blues”. The collaboration with the students began small as a short for credit in a NW Film Class, which then resulted in final projects and Career Center and Journalism Internships. Not wanting to stop there, Student Director/ Cinematographer/ Editor Jay Richardson was supported by the whole group of students from several classes over the summer to create a feature length Documentary and entered the Eugene International Film Festival August 17th, the day summer school ended. NW Animation Festival offers FREE entry until Nov 30

The Northwest Animation Festival is accepting submissions for 2013.

The final deadline is Jan 31. Entry is FREE if films are received by Nov 30.

The festival will take place on May 17-19 in Portland, Oregon. Organizers expect to screen 125+ films this year — making this the second largest showcase of animated shorts in the the USA.

Design Week Portland kicks off next week coming up Oct 9-13th, to showcase all the diversity and talent within the City of Roses. The densely scheduled exhibition of Portland design talent—visual, film, fashion, furniture, letterpress, architecture, and beyond—has galvanized the creative masses in Portland to fling open their doors, network their asses off, and generally show off.
