Funnelbox listed in Portland Business Journal’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies

We know that Oregon’s film and video industry has grown over the past few years by leaps and bounds and the news today from the Portland Busniess Journal adds more proof to this fact.  Next week PBJ is hosting a reception to honor their fastest growing companies in the region and Oregon City based production company Funnelbox is on the list.  This is no great surprise as television commercial production accounted for over $20million of the reported $130million in spending in 2011.  Continue reading... “Funnelbox listed in Portland Business Journal’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies”

Celebrate Goonies Day in Astoria June 7-10

In 2010 Mayor Willis Van Dusen declared June 7 to be “Goonies Day” to commemorate the release of the film back in 1985.  This weekend Astoria will be host to several activities to honor the film that keeps on giving to the community.  Most notably Astoria’s visitor center has organized a scavenger hunt for the visiting die-hard fans.

“The Goonies” impact on Astoria has been told over and over but it never ceases to amaze.  If you visit the Oregon Film Museum you will be stunned to see just how many fans come and visit leaving behind a note marking how much the film means to them.  Continue reading... “Celebrate Goonies Day in Astoria June 7-10”

Film Friendly Portland Featured in Starlight Parade

The Team Featured on the Float

Thanks to the efforts of many local crew and vendors this year, a float featuring “Grimm” and the many families working in Oregon’s film industry was in this year’s Starlight Parade. Naturally the Lawson family was front and center but also included on the float was Sarah Burton, Crofton Dyack, Michael Koerner, several cast members from “Grimm” and others.  I’m not sure who was the person wearing the cat mask from the show but they seemed to have a good time.  Continue reading... “Film Friendly Portland Featured in Starlight Parade”

Yesterday’s Season 2 kickoff event at the stages of “Grimm” was a great time for all to celebrate the fact that several hundred Oregonians are hard at work making the first of 22 episodes for the new season.  It was also a great opportunity to feature several local vendors who have benefited in many different ways because of “Grimm” and other projects like “Leverage” and “Portlandia”.  While visiting the sets of both “Grimm” and “Leverage”, Governor Kitzhaber has remarked several times about the film and television industry’s great use of the local supply chains.  Continue reading... “Season 2 Kick Off of “Grimm” Also a Celebration of the Local Small Business Supply Chain”
