JAMES MARANTETTE

James is likely the loudest person on our team. He isn’t loud himself, but as our sound designer, composer, and all-around audio guy, he makes a lot of noise.

Production in the Age of Corona – A Specific Case Study

Filmmaker Chad Parker created a short series about staying at home that created and utilized a production process that adheres to the current social distancing and health & safety requirements still in place here in Oregon. Check out all three of these fun shorts and their process to get them planned, shot, edited and presented to us all.

“In times of great change, relevant messages are more important than ever. We aimed to find a safe way to produce them. We waited until after the curve had begun to flatten to have our shoot, and we operated within the distancing guidelines set forth in the Oregon executive order.

Getting Oregon Production Back to Work

With the Governor’s framework document for “Reopening Oregon” being released yesterday we have started to have specific conversations with filmmakers, producers, companies and partners like the OMPA, Portland Film Office, IATSE 488, SAG-AFTRA, & DGA about what safety protocols will now need to be in place for production, large and small, to resume here in Oregon.

To that end, we would encourage anyone with suggestions for what should be considered and/or included in these post-Covid production protocols to reach out to us with your thoughts.

MONUMENT: Oregon-Made Holocaust Documentary Looking For Support

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516460982/monument

My grandma, a survivor of Auschwitz, was never able to tell us what happened to her during the Holocaust. But at the end of life, she returned to her hometown in Hungary to build a mysterious memorial for the town’s Jewish people, including her family. MONUMENT is a feature-length documentary film about my first visit to the memorial, hoping to find answers about what happened to her, and what it means to pass on traumatic memory.

We had the unfortunate timing of launching a crowdfunding campaign for Monument just before the COVID-19 outbreak, but we’ve been overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of support we’ve received.

17th Edition of The Archaeology Channel International Film Festival Goes Online

Eugene, OR – Organized by Eugene nonprofit, Archaeological Legacy Institute (ALI), Lane County’s longest-running film festival, The Archaeology Channel (TAC) International Film Festival, opens its 17th annual edition on May 13 and runs through May 17. However, instead of the normal array of public activities, this year’s Festival has moved to an online-only format. This involves online streaming of selected films for the competition as well a virtual awards announcement, whose results will be decided by the festival jury. While we at ALI regret the elimination of so much of our event, this special edition of TAC Festival is another step in its growth and a furtherance of the international recognition that the Festival brings to the Lane County community.
