Tag! Queer Shorts Festival 2025

The 2025 edition of Tag! Queer Shorts Festival hits the screen at the Hollywood Theatre on April 5-6, 2025. This year’s theme is “Create, Gather, Resist,” which is a direct call for LGBTQIA+ filmmakers and allies to respond to the dire political climate by engaging in visual storytelling that counters the dehumanizing narratives, to join together in celebration and solidarity, and to organize against the transphobia, homophobia, ableism, racism, and sexism that characterize this administration.

This year’s festival features 42 local and international short films organized into four thematic blocks.

Making Earth Cool with Short Films & NW Documentary

Making Earth Cool and NW Documentary invite you to create a short film celebrating the Earth for our upcoming curation of Earth Films for Earth Day on April 24th, 2025 at the Tomorrow Theater. Submit an Earth film between 1 – 8 minutes long and it may be chosen in the line-up. Whether it’s addressing climate change, highlighting the beauty of nature, or expressing your love for a specific plant, animal, or the miracle of Earth itself, we want to see it.

Celebrate 50th Anniversary of #OregonMade “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”

Screening on March 20, 2025 at 730p at the Hollywood Theatre.

Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the all-time-classic #OregonMade film ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST. Winner of 5 Oscars and shot at the Oregon State Hospital with a full cast field trip to nearby Depoe Bay, the film version of Ken Kesey’s novel will be shown on a 35mm print. The screening will be a benefit for the Museum of Mental Health now housed in the State Hospital in Salem.

RVing Today Celebrates 15 Years

RVing Today, a weekly show about RVs and the RV lifestyle, is celebrating its 15th year on syndicated nationwide broadcast television. The show producer, Jose Moniz, is based near Boston, Massachusetts and co-hosted by Jeff Johnston in a Eugene field office. Oregon distributor Fox KLSR has been with the show for all 15 years and we’re also on KOBI NBC5 in Medford and KOTI NBC 2 in Klamath Falls.

Film Tourism – What Exactly Is It & Why Do We Want It?

Over 700 filmed projects have shot in the state since 1908, these have resulted in thousands of filming locations in communities all over Oregon. Oregon Film’s non-profit, the OregonMade Creative Foundation, has been building an official state film trail since 2018, as a way to position Oregon to better take advantage of film tourism and supporting economic development in many of our communities.

This short animated film (created by the global film tourism app, SetJetters in partnership with Oregon Film) will explain what it means to a community to take a film location from set – to asset.

#OregonMade “Trash Baby” to Premiere at SXSW

The locally produced feature film “Trash Baby” will make its world premiere at the SXSW film festival in Austin, TX later this year. Written and directed by Jacy Mairs ”Trash Baby” is an indie drama that celebrates the kids who grew up amidst white trash culture in the early 2000’s. Bold, cinematic, and rooted in authenticity, this film is a love letter to the beauty of one of America’s most dismissed communities, and an honest look at those society openly calls trash.

The Oregon Film Trail is a statewide network of markers placed at significant filming locations across Oregon—the first trail of its kind in the U.S. This trail connects communities, landmarks, and notable films, weaving together Oregon’s deep film legacy and celebrating over a century of filmmaking.

Currently, an oral history project is underway, gathering stories from local community members who interacted with productions during filming. Eventually, these stories will become part of the Trail, offering visitors a unique insight into the filming experience from a local perspective—the “stories behind the story.”

“What We Lost Along the Way” An #OregonMade Documentary

Travel Oregon recently highlighted a short doc that was funded as part of the Outdoor Adventure Film Grant awarded by both Travel Oregon and Oregon Film. The film, directed by Portlander Devin Boss, highlights friends’ Oregon Coast journey to experience nature and leave anxiety behind.

Devin Boss recalls watching the waves crash against the rocks at Thor’s Well on his recent Oregon Coast road trip with friends. “It’s probably like in the top five things I’ve ever witnessed in nature,” he says of the natural attraction in Yachats, just down the path from Cape Perpetua Visitors Center.
