This week the 34th Portland International Film Festival (PIFF) puts a spotlight on the tremendous accomplishments of Oregon filmmakers, with screenings of Peter D. Richardsonʼs Sundance-acclaimed documentary “How to Die in Oregon“; Aaron Katzʼs Portland valentine “Cold Weather“; the Portland premiere of Matt McCormickʼs first feature film, “Some Days are Better Than Others” starring Portlandia’s Carrie Brownstein; and a program of “Made in Portland” short films featuring the works of Jim Blashfield, Joanna Priestley, Vince Malone, and more.

HB 2167 – My Written Testimony

Put A Bird On It For Charity

Below is some information we picked up from Producer David Cress regarding a fund raising event happening surrounding the local premiere of “Portlandia” on January 14.  I’m sure there will be more info on the January 14 Premiere as well as the after party coming very soon so stay tuned.  In the mean time, get your bird art out for a good cause!

A Christmas Gift from “Live Wire Radio”

I went to the recent “Live Wire Radio” show which plays on OPB on Saturday Nights.  They recorded two shows – one that will air on Christmas Night and one that will air in January.  The January show features Carrie Brownstein and Gus Van Sant (as well as a good skit with Carrie about “Portlandia”).  The Christmas show featured singer/songwriter Thao Nguyen who played this song that night.  It brought the house down.  A gift card Christmas – a true 21st century Christmas song.  Continue reading... “A Christmas Gift from “Live Wire Radio””

D.B. Sweeney to star in new TV pilot set in Portland

Turner Broadcasting announced today that D.B. Sweeney has been cast to play the lead in Electric Entertainment’s pilot set in Portland titled “Brain Trust”.  Here’s the info on the pilot. Dean Devlin will be directing the pilot which is due to shoot in Portland in December for two weeks.  We were thrilled to have Electric bring a second project to Oregon and even more excited to hear that they made the decision to re-write this pilot for Portland.  The original script had set the pilot in Washington D.C.
