Put A Bird On It For Charity

Below is some information we picked up from Producer David Cress regarding a fund raising event happening surrounding the local premiere of “Portlandia” on January 14.  I’m sure there will be more info on the January 14 Premiere as well as the after party coming very soon so stay tuned.  In the mean time, get your bird art out for a good cause!

(From David Cress, Carrie Brownstein,  and Film Action Oregon)

On January 14th, we will be having a premier and charity event in conjunction with the new IFC television series Portlandia. The show was filmed in Portland and stars Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney, WILD FLAG). The premier will include an advanced screening of the first two episodes of the show followed by an after-party. The event supports the Oregon Humane Society and Film Action Oregon, which is part of the historic Hollywood Theater.

In one of the sketches, Fred and Carrie portray artists who put birds on everything. So, as part of the event, we’re asking people to “put a bird on it.” You can paint it, pin it, glue it, sew it, screen it and you can put the bird atop whatever you’d like. We’ll then display the pieces at the premier and raffle off the art for our two charities.

We’d be honored and grateful if you were able to donate a piece of bird art to the event.

Submissions are due by Thursday, January 13th.

Please include your name and the title of the piece.
They can be dropped off at Film Action Oregon located adjacent to the Hollywood Theatre in NE Portland.

4122 NE Sandy Boulevard
Portland, OR 97212

You can also arrange to have your art picked up.

Thank you!
