This month’s mixer for Portland area screenwriters and filmmakers features guest speaker screenwriter and educator, RANDALL JAHNSON, whose produced credits include: Dudes, The Doors, The Mask of Zorro, Sunset Strip and episodes of the HBO series Tales from the Crypt.
We are still enjoying season 3 of IFC’s, “Documentary Now!” and just in – we hear that they are renewing for a season 4!
Many talented local crew worked on this current season and we are proud to call it #OregonMade! Season has seen more great guest stars such as; Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Cate Blanchett among others, and the series was created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, John Mulaney and Seth Meyers.
Screenwriters & Filmmakers, ISA Third Thursdays April 18th is ALL ABOUT TV! It’s a Portland first with screenwriter, playwright and teacher Hal Cantor, who has written For Fox Television Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Showtime. Hal will give us his take on the craft and business of writing for television in today’s madcap TV marketplace.
Netflix’s “The OA – Part 2″ is set to return for its second season March 22nd. This fantasy drama series was shot in Oregon last summer, in locations such as, Portland, Warm Springs and Pacific City.
Hulu’s six-episode series, “Shrill” is set to premiere March 15th. Executive Producers Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks created the comedy series starring Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live) as Annie, “a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body. Annie is trying to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss.” “Shrill” was inspired by the memoir, “Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman” by Lindy West. “Pretty Little Liars” #OregonMade spinoff series, “The Perfectionists,” is coming to FreeformTV March 20th. Kristi Turnquist was at the Television Critics Assocation 2019 winter press tour and reported back that I. Marlene King, the show’s producer, waxed lyrical about shooting in Oregon. King described two of the Oregon locations (Forest Grove and Pacific Univeristy) as “picture perfect” and “this is what BHU is supposed to look like.”
#OregonMade “Mom & Me,” shot in and starring Bend mother and son team Karrie and Tristan Trowbridge, begins airing on Saturday, March 9 at 11 PM EST/ 8PM PST.
Mother-and-son duo Karrie and Tristan Trowbridge combine their skills to restore neglected houses in Bend, Oregon. While Karrie claims the general contractor and designer roles, Tristan is her worksite muscle and protege.
