#OregonMade And Travel Oregon Present Blue Chalk Media’s Winter Season Grant Winner – “Wish You Were Here”

Last year Blue Chalk Media won the $15,000 “Winter Season Grant” – provided by the OregonMade Creative Foundation and Travel Oregon – and have now successfully created two short films of moving “postcard stories” (one of which is available above) that were designed to, “captivate and encourage people to experience the winter season for themselves.”

We pitched a series of short narrative pieces that highlighted different, often overlooked, winter areas of Oregon. The resulting films are a love letter to Oregon’s Alvord Desert and the Suttle Lake near Sisters. Golden Globe Win For Laika With “Missing Link”

Congratulations to Laika on their first Golden Globe win for “Best Animated Feature” with “Missing Link“.  Laika beat out Disney’s, “Frozen 2” and “The Lion King”, DreamWorks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” and Disney/Pixar’s “Toy Story 4”.

The stop-motion feature was written and directed by Chris Butler and features the voices of Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Dabid Williams, Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas, Timothy Olyphant, Amrita Acharia, Emma Thompson and Zach Galifinakis.

Spotlight On Scott Vanderpool – Welding Design & Fabrication Specialist

Scott Vanderpool, welding design and fabrication specialist for Portland Parks & Recreation and owner of Iron Stone Forge, LLC, has been designing and fabricating for business and pleasure in Portland for many years.  “I prefer to do artwork and technical/precision fabrications but I bring the artistic side whenever I can. Coming off a successful festival run that included screenings at BendFilm Festival, Portland International Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest and Napa Valley Film Festival, SOLE DOCTOR, directed by Portland filmmaker and journalist Paula Bernstein, is now available on Amazon Prime.

Oregonian Location Manager, Mike Floyd, Wins “Location Manager of the Year” At California On Location Awards

Many, well-deserved congratulations to Mike Floyd – Honored by the California On Locations Awards as, “Location Manager of the Year’!

#OregonMade, “Timmy Failure” To Premiere At Sundance 2020

The #OregonMade, live-action, “Timmy Failure:Mistakes Were made” will be premiering in the “Kids” section of the Sundance Film Festival 2020. This section of the Festival was created especially for the “youngest independent film fans. New Oregon Film Trail Sign For Depoe Bay Harbor

A new Oregon Film Trail sign will be unveiled in Depoe Bay (4 PM, Thursday, December 19th, 2019).  The sign honors the town harbor’s starring role as a location in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s NestThe Depoe Bay Chamber is hosting an unveiling of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail in the World’s Smallest Harbor – between dock 1 and 2. A reception will follow at Dockside Charters harbor location.  This sign marks an important filming location related to the classic feature film, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and features a few facts and anecdotes about the film as well as a reference to two other films shot close by (The Burning Plain and Sometimes A Great Notion)..
