New York Film Critics Circle Announces #OregonMade “First Cow” As Best Film 2020!
The New York Film Critics Circle announces A24’s period drama, “First Cow as their “Best Film” choice for 2020. (Read more here from Daily Variety). “First Cow” shot entirely on location in Oregon last year at; Oxbow Regional Park, Sauvie Island, Portland, Milo McIver State Park, San Salvador State Beach, and Elkton among other locations.

#OregonMade “Short Circuit” House Location, To Become Museum & Lodging In Astoria
Edward Stratton, from The Daily Astorian, reports that super fan, Richard Bates, recently purchased the Victorian home in Astoria that was used as a prominent location in the science fiction comedy film (1996). Bates was only 6 years old when he saw “Short Circuit,” and immediately became a fan, and now has plans to turn the house into a museum and overnight stay lodging.
Over the years Astoria has been a celebrated Oregon location for many features, TV series, and documentaries and consequently boasts 3 Oregon Film Trail sign locations, one of which is dedicated to “Short Circuit”. #OregonMade Feature Film “Pig” Getting Some Award Attention
Congrats to “Pig” – it not only won a National Review Board Award for Best Directorial Debut (Michael Sarnoski) but also received three nominations from The Hollywood Critics Association (Best First Feature, Best Indie, and Best Actor).
“Pig,” a revenge thriller from Nicolas Cage and first-time filmmaker Michael Sarnoski and stars Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff, and Adam Arkin. The film was shot in Oregon last summer. Writer-director Sarnoski’s film sees Cage as a reclusive truffle hunter in Oregon whose prize hunting pig is kidnapped, forcing him to return to old stomping grounds in Portland and confront his past. Pipeworks Studios (and Genvid Technologies) unveiled “Rival Peak” this week – a brand new interactive game experience that is part reality show and part game, now running on Facebook. 12 AI characters make up the contestants who are competing, “Surivoresque” style, in a beautiful Pacific Northwest landscape. The Facebook audience will be able to influence the fate of their favorite AI characters in real-time. The show will run 24 hours a day and is hosted by Wil Wheaton (“Stand By Me”).
