25 years ago, on August 8th, a film shot in Oregon was released nationwide in the theatres. It hasn’t stopped playing since. It is currently #175 on IMDB’s top 250 list, above “Avatar” and “Gandhi”. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay from Stephen Kings’ novella “The Body”; the Japanese Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film; and won the Jackie Coogan Youth Award for the cast of River Phoenix, Wil Wheaton, Jerry O’Connell and Corey Feldman. The Festival runs November 11-19, 2011.

Formerly known as the Northwest Film & Video Festival, the Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s 38-year tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources available to them, to inspire, be inspired and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences. HD/Film Makeup Workshops Returning to Portland

Colour Box Makeup Studios founder Kerry Herta returns to Portland Aug. 31-Sept. 5 to teach aspiring makeup artists the latest techniques used in the entertainment and beauty industries.

Herta, a 2011 Daytime Emmy nominee, previously taught her signature workshops – the five-day Makeup Artist Boot Camp and one-day Airbrush Seminar – in Portland in June. The new dates will accommodate the growing waiting list of artists who couldn’t enroll in the last class.

Oregon creatives recognized with 2011 Emmy Nominations

As Television aficionados know, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and amongst the nominees were several Oregon based filmmakers and companies!

HBO’s acclaimed mini-series “Mildred Pierce” was the most recognized program with 21 nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special for Todd Haynes and Jon Raymond – both Oregon based writers/filmmakers – and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special for Todd Haynes. Main Cast of Supernatural Thriller “Nightscape” Announced

MAIN CAST OF SUPERNATURAL THRILLER “NIGHTSCAPE” ANNOUNCED


Portland, Oregon—Writer-director David W. Edwards announced the main cast for his first feature film, Nightscape. The film stars, in alphabetical order: Emily Galesh, LaVerne Green, Joshua St. James and Jorge Madrid. The film shoots later this month in and around Portland.

 

In Nightscape, an emotionally guarded drifter, Kat (Galesh), crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. The drifter must learn to trust again if she is to end a lifetime of bad luck and to help her newfound companions survive the growing chaos and carnage. “Grimm” To Premiere at Comic-Con on July 23

Today NBC announced that its new series “Grimm” which is set to shoot in Oregon will premiere the pilot episode at the 2011 Comic-Con on July 23.  The episode will screen with a Q&A session with Exec. Prods Jim Kauf and David Greenwalt as well as the series’ main cast.  Given the subject matter of the show, it’s no surprise to hear that it made it into Comic-Con and it’s great to see that NBC is already beginning a promo push for the show.  Continue reading... ““Grimm” To Premiere at Comic-Con on July 23”
