Roy W. Dean Fall Filmmaker Grant Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for the Roy W. Dean Fall Grant.   The grant gives filmmakers a chance to get their films going or completed with an award of $2,500 in cash and $30,000 in film products and services.  Films can be documentaries, short films, and features and must be unique and contribute to society. Deadline for submission is September 30th, 2014

New Portland-based Feature Film: If. I Love You

From time immemorial, love has been the subject of poets, artists, psychologists, philosophers, and now neuroscientists. It is a perpetual query as one navigates many confounding factors that make up the experience of “love,” from evolutionary biological drives to the exalted notions of unconditional love, and all the nitty gritty, everyday details in between.

If. I Love You is an experimental fiction feature film set in Portland, Oregon.  The film illustrates love from an investigative, at times deconstructionist, perspective.   It utilizes both traditional and experimental directorial techniques.   Continue reading... “New Portland-based Feature Film: If. Congratulations Nathan Cherrington and his wife, Lisa, The Governators, who trounced all comers at the 5-hour croquet tournament of the OMPA Classic powered by Zarr Studios. The Governators, representing the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film and Television, upset Barefoot Bullseyes Signa Cheney and Curtis Kidwell of Bullseye Disc, who were in fact as barefoot as they advertised. Annual OMPA Classic Raises Money for Media Arts Scholarships with Golf and Croquet

OMPA’s premier event and fundraiser at The Resort at The Mountain on July 11, 2014.

Golf, croquet and a great party are on the table for the Oregon Media Production Association’s annual tournament and fundraiser next Friday, July 11. Mt. Hood serves as the backdrop for this full day of fun, sportsmanship and stewardship of Oregon’s burgeoning media production field. The event is sponsored by production houses and vendors to Oregon’s thriving media production industry, including title sponsor Zarr Studios.

THE DISCOVERERS Opens June 20, Meet Filmmakers Opening Night

The Oregon-made feature film, The Discoverers, starring Oscar and Emmy nominee Griffin Dunne will have its Pacific Northwest premiere at the Regal Fox Tower in Portland on June 20. Writer/director Justin Schwarz will attend the 7pm show for a Q&A with his Portland-based crew. The film will expand to Salem, Eugene, Sisters, Ashland and more cities throughout the summer.
