The Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) announces its annual winter holiday party for commercial, film and television industry professionals on Friday, December 17th, 2010 from 8 pm to 11 pm at Portland City Hall. Hundreds of guests including government leaders, producers, artists, actors, crew, agents and vendors – a who’s who in Oregon’s biz – are scheduled to attend. Mark your calendars… the Oregon Film Annual Meeting will be held Friday, December 17th at 7:00PM. This year’s meeting will once again be a state-wide teleconference event thanks to the support of our friends in Bend, Eugene, and Ashland. The Portland location for the meeting will be Portland State University’s Lincoln Hall.
As you know, the America Film Market took place in Santa Monica last week and Vince was there on Tuesday to meet with various producers and production companies. As a way to strengthen some existing relationships and to introduce Oregon as a viable place to shoot to others , we hosted a small reception at Shutters on the Beach. Picture This Production Services & Stage hosted a 3D Workshop last month to introduce our community to multiple 3D Camera solutions including the Panasonic AG-3DA1 Camcorder, the first professional 3D dual lens HD video camera in the world, as well as 3D projection and 3D post production solutions.
The workshop kicked off with an introduction to 3D basic terminology and fundamental principles. We were guided through how physical science combined with aesthetic choices and art direction can produce successful and compelling 3D video imagery. The DIVA Center, in Eugene, is calling for short film submissions (15 minutes or less) by Oregon filmmakers for entry in the Center’s 7th annual OpenLens Festival – January 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2011. Southern Oregon Film and Televisionis proud to present its upcoming SOFaT Filmmaker Series special screening of “Star Trek IV: The Journey Home”, projected in 35mm at the Varsity Theatre in downtown Ashland. Immediately following the film, there will be a live discussion and Q&A with the film’s writer and producer Harve Bennett, veteran of 4 Star Trek films from The Wrath of Khan to The Final Frontier as well as other films and notable TV shows.
Every year we give a grateful shout out to people and businesses in Oregon who have been integral in helping production during the year. At our Annual Meeting in December (more details to follow) several awards and achievements recognizing the importance of innovation, vendors and services to the film and TV industry will be presented by Governor Kulongoski.
