If you only get to one event for Oregon’s film and television industry this year, you should make it out to Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River for the OMPA Classic this Friday. The event benefits the Oregon Media Production Association, an institution of Oregon’s crew, vendors, producers and actors that for 30-years has advocated for growth in Oregon’s production industry.
PORTLAND, Oregon (July 9, 2012) The feature film “Cell Count” premiered on May 20th at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival and is an Official Selection of this year’s Macabro Film Festival in Mexico City this August. This week offered the Producer’s of the film an exciting third acceptance to a film festival so far this year, the Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

The 39th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources, inspire, be inspired, and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences. Submit your recent work for consideration!
The entry deadline is Monday, August 1 (postmark) and the Festival runs November 9-17. Entries are judged by a prominent filmmaker, curator, or critic who determines the Festival awards. The Oregon Media Production Association is excited to present “Schmooze It or Lose It,” an exciting speed networking session on July 28 at the Red Lion Convention Center (in the Windows Lounge) from 6-8pm. Meet new potential collaborators in the media production industry (film, TV, commercial, new media, interactive, etc.) and re-connect with past ones at this fun and productive event.
This Sunday, June 24th, the Dill Pickle Club hosts the fourth and last installment of A Place Called Home: Lectures on Filmmaking in Portland, a monthly lecture series focused on the history of movie-making in the city, at the Whitsell Auditorium, with guests Tom Chamberlin, Dennis Nyback and Tom Robinson (co-presented with the Northwest Film Center). Thanks to the efforts of many local crew and vendors this year, a float featuring “Grimm” and the many families working in Oregon’s film industry was in this year’s Starlight Parade. Naturally the Lawson family was front and center but also included on the float was Sarah Burton, Crofton Dyack, Michael Koerner, several cast members from “Grimm” and others.
