The 6th Annual Cinema Pacific unveiled it’s full program coming to Eugene April 27- May 3rd. The festival is a collaboration between the University of Oregon and the community of Eugene, and administered by U of O graduate students. It will be featuring an “array of films, exhibitions, parties and performances” from Pacific rim countries. An exciting part of the festival is the opening, “Adrenaline Film Project” – featuring 12 Oregon filmmaker teams that have 72 hours to create a film from pre through post production. Derek Freese Documentary Fund (DFDF) provides production support for feature-length documentary films that have both a strong narrative and compelling story, across a broad spectrum of subject matters. This award is given biennially to an independent filmmaker and provides up to $35,000 in finishing funds.
Tim Williams is the new Executive Director of Oregon Film—more formally known as the Governor’s Office of Film and Television. He speaks with Eric Alan about the growing and shifting media industry in Oregon, at a time when the word “film” is losing its traditional meaning, as the creative form opens to new digital horizons.

Congratulations to Nancy Haecker (“Wild“), who, at the second annual Location Managers Guild of America Awards, won for “Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film”. The awards took place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Saturday night.
According to Variety, Haecker read Cheryl Strayed’s memoir, “Wild”, during a flight, and was so enthused that she wanted to scout the film project. Even though most of the film plays for California, around 60 locations in Oregon were scouted by Haecker; from the high desert in central Oregon, the city of Ashland, Crater Lake, the Portland metro area, to the Bridge of the Gods in the Columbia River Valley Gorge.
