Stand By Me Day – July 23rd – Brownsville

Every year July 23rd is Stand By Me Day in Brownsville.  This year, due to Covid restrictions and not being able to gather a crowd, Historic Brownsville is hoping that fans will come on their own to celebrate this beloved movie.  Although there will not be a blueberry pie-eating contest this year fans can walk around town exploring the Oregon Film Trail stops, see the many scene locations from this beloved movie and play a geocache game. Disney’s, “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” has become a solid family favorite – it tells the story of three pets, two dogs and cat, “Shadow”, “Chance” and “Sassy,” who escape from a California ranch and travel together for miles over rough terrain in order to find their owners who had recently moved to San Francisco. Production started in 1992 and this feature shot most of its scenes at locations such as; Joseph, Eagle Cap, the Deschutes River, the Gorge, Portland and Central Oregon among others – all doing an admirable job standing in for the California Sierras and San Fransico. Food Foray: Locally Produced Docuseries Screening at the Milagro Theatre

Food Foray, a locally produced docuseries blending stunning food visuals with intimate conversations about the immigrant experience, will hold a public screening at the Milagro Theatre on September 28, 2024.

Hosted by MetroEast Community Media, this dynamic event will feature the premiere of the first three 20-minute episodes, each spotlighting cuisines and stories from the Republic of Georgia, the Oaxaca region of Mexico, and Myanmar. “Tell Your Story” Grant – Open for Submissions April 17 – May 31

Oregon Film, #OregonMade Creative Foundation and the Creative Opportunity Program are offering two $15,000 grants to Oregon-based creators, or creative teams. The Grant is designed to support a non-project specific virtual residency, allowing filmmakers to develop, explore, and/or shoot the stories they want to tell, in any format they choose. All filmmakers are welcome to apply, with a special emphasis on applicants from traditionally under-represented communities.

Tell Your Story Grant(s) Will:

  • Support early or mid-career filmmakers (not entry level) looking to move forward in the film, media, and entertainment fields in Oregon.

DisOrient Presents a Special Preview Screening of “My Partner”

This year, DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon invites you to join them in Eugene on Saturday, February 17 at the Art House Eugene for a preview screening of MY PARTNER, then March 8-10 for live screenings of over 60 films, and online March 11-17 for over 95 films screened virtually.

DisOrient will also have Opening and Closing Night Receptions at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art with food, entertainment, and conversation with filmmakers. Tickets are on sale now on the DisOrient website
