Soma Games Staff Bio – Amy Rose Lowery

Soma Games LLC is an indie video game developer located in Newberg, Oregon. We believe video games can be far more than time-wasters. Video games hold the potential to showcase beauty, reward adventure and excellence, and challenge thinking. Our goal is to passionately and dutifully craft the games that elevate humanity rather than waste it.

Amy Rose Lowery is one of two full-time writers who works for Soma Games. While many ask people who work at Soma Games how they got their job, Amy’s story is one of my favorites.

Portland Art Museum & Northwest Film Center Announced The Re:Imagine Artist Fund

Applications opened July 7th for the NW Film Center and Portland Art Museum Artist Fund.

The Re:Imagine Artist Fund, an expanded initiative to support visual, cinema arts, and new media artists, both to provide immediate assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to sustain their creative practices long-term. The Fund will provide emergency relief grants and longer-term sustainability grants, as well as increase programming stipends to artists from across Oregon and Clark County, Washington. At this critical moment of change, it is crucial to the health of our arts ecosystem to distribute resources, and PAM/NWFC joins the important relief efforts of area organizations indirectly supporting artists.

“First Cow,” shot entirely on location in Oregon last year. “A taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although its longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner’s prized milking cow.

POW Film Fest Presents – POW TV

Today POW Film Fest is launching POW TV, a virtual viewing station for discovering stories told by women and non-binary filmmakers.

The past few months have provided many of us with the opportunity to watch a lot more films and tv series. Most often we turn to the big streaming platforms for this entertainment, but more and more of those big platforms are becoming saturated with the “bad tv” that was once the fluff of networks and cable tv. POW feels compelled to provide an alternative to the played out motto: Netflix and Chill, by offering great films that have finished their festival run, but that not all of us have had opportunities to see or learn about.

New Oregon Filmmaker Series from Oregon Media Lab

Oregon Media Lab is starting an Oregon Filmmaker Series with The Hollywood Theater in Portland, OR.

Filmmakers are asked to submit their work at any time for consideration.

Athena Joins The Oregon Film Trail

A brand new Oregon Film Trail sign has been installed and was unveiled today in Athena, honoring the town’s starring role as a location in the silent film, City Girl. It sits outside the Gem Theatre, Athena. The Gem Theatre hosted the dedication of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail, in celebration of the local filming of this F.W. Murnau silent feature film.

The current pandemic situation didn’t allow for a large public dedication but instead, local government representatives attended a photo opportunity with the sign at the dedication.

Hinge Digital Creates PSA For Ad Council So Parents & Children Can Stay Safe As They Navigate Covid-19

The Ad Council jumped at the offer from Portland creative agency, Hinge Digital’s offer of a pro-bono PSA for parents and children. Hinge worked with the American PSA nonprofit Ad Council, and in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and US Department of Health and Human Services to create a campaign that educated parents and their children on how to stay safe as they navigate COVID-19’s challenges. Hinge’s Roland Gauthier talked to Cospective about their “rapid two-week production schedule, and how the Portland team stayed connected with the PSA’s NY-based agency creatives” to achieve their final result – the “Stay-Here-O’s.

Summer Makeup Camp

The Art of Makeup School is offering both in-person and virtual makeup camps this summer. In-person and virtual camp sessions are 4 days each, and virtual camps are also offered as day camps. Summer Makeup Camp is the perfect opportunity for actors to learn production makeup tips, or if you’re curious about a career in makeup, or simply for fun. Any age from 12 up is welcome! Day 1 Corrective Beauty: Color theory, skin tone matching, highlighting and contouring, corrective techniques, and a classic beauty look

Day 2 Fashion Makeup: Editorial fashion look, winged liner, strip lashes, perfect lips, and smoky eyes

Day 3 Special FX Makeup: Create bruises, cuts, and wounds using a variety of makeup mediums

Day 4 Film & TV Makeup: Using makeup for character development, film makeup tips & tricks, career genres in makeup artistry
