Technology Association of Oregon Opens Satellite Office in Eugene

TECHnology Association of OregonThe Technology Association of Oregon, an organization that advocates for the state’s tech companies, and whose vision is to “create a world-class and inclusive innovation economy in Oregon and SW Washington by helping the region’s technology and tech-enabled industries to grow through programs and initiatives that focus on industry promotion, advocacy, professional networks, and talent development” has opened a satellite office in Eugene.

Eugene has been a growing center for high-tech firms, the video game industry being one of them, and TAO’s presence will help focus and promote a young workforce looking to get into tech, as well as serving as a voice for the industry, and a networking hub, amongst other things.

Christian Kane Launches Kane’s Kitchen Website For New Cooking Show

Christian Kane (“Librarians”) today launched a new site for his soon be released web based show, “Kane’s Kitchen“.  Kane’s popularity was evident when the site crashed twice within 12 hours of launching.  Kane’s business partner and producer on the project is Oregonian, Jose Behar (“Leverage” and “Librarians”).  The Pander Bros were responsible for the animated sequences in the trailer.

Change How The World Builds Stories

More than that, even when people can define story, there’s nothing out there to help them build one effectively. In the past there have been tips, tools, and tricks, but there has been no concrete process that took people step-by-step from an idea to a truly influential story. Portland-based filmmaking studio Stillmotion aims to combat this trend with Muse, their patent-pending storytelling process.

The Oregon Coast Film Festival invites submissions by professionals and amateurs through September 1. Categories for documentary shorts are, Historical and Cultural; Tourism, Outdoor and Recreational; Student Videos; and a new 2015 Cranberry Challenge category. Independent and feature length submissions are also welcome.

The 2015 Festival is October 9 and 10, at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon.

“A good movie is like a blast to the head,” growled Dusty Decker — musician, actor, purveyor of the Albino Bumblebee (goat’s milk, Jack Daniels, honey) and something of a local legend in the valley of La Grande, Oregon. His off the cuff commentary, though in jest, nonetheless proved a perfect transition from bb gun toting and hatchet throwing to a roundtable discussion on independent film beneath the towering trees of his backyard. We were all there for the sixth annual Eastern Oregon Film Festival, and the conversation began with the occasion.

“Green Room” Reviews are in After Cannes Director’s Fortnight

“Green Room”, Jeremy Saulnier’s (Blue Ruin) punk chiller-thriller earned some good reviews at it’s world premiere during the Cannes Director’s Fortnight this year.  This Oregon-shot-and-produced feature had Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani and Victor Moyers at the helm, starring Patrick Stewart.

In the spring of 1945, a Japanese balloon bomb claimed the lives of the only people killed in the continental United States as a result of enemy action during World War II.  Forty years later, the decision to fold a thousand paper cranes would unite the Japanese and American civilians who were involved in and affected by this incident.

India's Daughter INDIA’S DAUGHTER is the story of the short life,  and brutal gang rape and murder in Delhi in  December 2012 of an exceptional and inspiring  young woman. The rape of the 23 year old medical  student by 6 men on a moving bus, and her death,  sparked unprecedented protests and riots  throughout India and led to the first glimmers of a change of mindset. Interwoven into the story line are the lives, values and mindsets of the rapists whom the film makers have had exclusive and unprecedented access to interview before they hang.

Local Film “Reconciler” Gets International & Domestic Distribution

The ReconcilerThe feature length motion picture Reconciler is on its way to Cannes! Produced and distributed by native Northwest companies, the feature film Reconciler has been picked up for international distribution and will be showcased this week at the internationally renowned Festival de Cannes, by Black Wolf Media. Reconciler was produced in Oregon by Justice Pictures, in association with IMD Films — both native Northwest companies.

Justice Pictures is extremely fortunate to have secured a relationship with IMD Films and Black Wolf Media to distribute Reconciler to the broad and growing faith-based audience.

Hinge and Microsoft Team Up For Surface Pro 3 Spots

Microsoft tapped Hinge to create two :30 retail attract loops for the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3. Hinge was responsible for the original creative and developed both horizontal and vertical versions for use in store and out of home displays.
