Portlandia World Premiere in Portland a Big Success

Portland has been buzzing about IFC’s new made-in-Oregon show Portlandia since the series began shooting in the late summer of 2010.  The network choose to release the show’s first episode before its official television premiere on Hulu and the official IFC show page, but those lucky enough to get a ticket to last Friday night’s sold-out world premiere screenings at the Hollywood Theater got the chance to see the first and second episodes of Portlandia on the big screen. Do You Have An Environmental Message, Concern…….Opinion….

……… then this year’s 48 Hour Go Green project is inviting filmmakers to SPEAK UP AND CREATE!

Simultaneously,  on February 18th, 2011, in cities around the world , 48 Hour Go Green kicks off.  Teams will be given a brief and then have only 48 hours to get their films written, shot, edited and through post (you can secure equipment, actors and choose team members ahead of time but must register prior to the kickoff) before finally submitting for competition.  The early bird special expires January 19th. Live from Baker City, it’s New Year’s Eve!

Very exciting news from Japan! They’ll be shooting LIVE in Baker City for their big  New Years Eve Show.   It’s sort of like our Dick Clark’s rockin’ New Years Eve,where they flip to different venues around the country-only the Japan version is flipping to different interesting venues around the world. Yep. That’s right, including us in Oregon. We think this is the first time Japan TV has ever broadcast live from Oregon for any reason. Portland-based Animator and Students Help Create “Community” Holiday Episode

Fans of the NBC comedy Community have been looking forward to tonight’s Holiday episode, in which the show’s cast is transformed into holiday-special-style stop motion characters.  Where did the producers of Community look when they were searching for someone to create these Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer-like stop motion characters?

According to the Oregonian’s Kirsti Turnquist, the producers turned their eyes north to Portland, where they found animation specialist Teresa Drilling.  Drilling, who won an Emmy in 2008 for her work on Creature Comforts, worked “around the clock” for two months on the NBC comedy… and she also took four Art Institute of Portland students along for the ride! The Brothers Freeman Begin Production of CELL COUNT.

Portland, OR – November 22, 2010

On November 29th, local Portland-based filmmakers, the Brothers Freeman, commence principle photography on CELL COUNT, the second of two feature films made back to back under the i-OPIF incentive program this fall from their production company Polluted Pictures in association with Wooden Frame Productions.

The film, which was written and directed by Todd E. Freeman will be shot entirely on location in Portland for 3 weeks.
