A region of the Pacific Northwest that has imagined its own independence as far back as the 1850’s, the ‘mythical’ 51st State of Jefferson, is a proposed U.S. state that would span the contiguous, mostly rural area of southern Oregon and Northern California.
Many a liberated spirit claim this State their home, and as of the 2010 US Census, if the Jefferson counties were a state, the state’s population would be 457,859 and be roughly the size of West Virginia.

There is excitement building for the locally filmed and produced, “Tracktown”. It is set to premier at the Los Angeles Film Festival next month. The film explores the struggle to find an equilibrium between a world-class running career, and a regular life, inspired by Pappas’ own life. The 14th Annual Filmed by Bike Festival showcases the world’s best bike movies, and the organizers say this year is their best collection of movies to date: 59 films from 55 filmmakers representing 19 different countries will show throughout the festival.
The NW Animation Film was founded in 2011 and has grown to become the biggest of its kind in the US – over 1300 films were submitted this year!
