Confluence is pleased to announce the second Confluence Filmmaker Fellows program.
Three Indigenous video artists will receive cash prizes to support a film project they are developing: one for $5,000 and two for $2,500. Three other Emerging Indigenous Filmmakers will receive full camera kits (or equivalent cost equipment, calculated at $800) so that they can take their craft to the next level.

WIF-PDX are excited to announce the 2024 Vision Grant! This year WIF-PDX will be awarding two filmmakers $5,000 each for their narrative or documentary short film in post-production.
The Vision Grant, now in its 12th year, has been a cornerstone of Women in Film PDX’s mission to foster creativity, innovation, and inclusivity within the film community. This grant program seeks to directly support the individual filmmaker and artist and is not directly linked to a specific project. The TYSG seeks to help early and mid-career creators get to the next step of their career and ensure that career continues to develop in Oregon by providing funding that can be used by the recipient in a more flexible manner. Portland based Refuge VFX was nominated this week for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in the FX Series “Shōgun.” This nomination caps off a very busy year for Refuge who’s work can be seen in recent series like “Fallout” and “The Peripheral”(Amazon), “The Righteous Gemstones” (HBO) and “Superman and Lois” (WB).

It’s official: Southern Oregon University’s Digital Cinema program makes SOU one of the best film schools in North America. The current edition of MovieMaker magazine, which bills itself as the world’s most widely read independent film magazine, includes SOU among its picks for the “30 Best Film Schools in the U.S. & Canada.”

In an effort to raise visibility for Native American and Indigenous voices in film, the McMinnville Short Film Festival (MSFF) is awarding a $10k grant to a PNW-based filmmaker or filmmaking team. Applicants with films at all stages (from development to post production) are encouraged to apply and must complete 50% of production in Oregon.

In an exciting development for the Oregon animation community, Portland Community College announced plans to offer an animation degree beginning in 2025, partly funded by a $60,000 donation from Oregon film studio Laika.
Laika announced Tuesday that it will give $30,000 to the PCC Foundation in each of the next two years to help fund three new classes in animation and stop-motion filmmaking, and the new degree in animation and motion graphics.
