Willamette Week covered the journey of how “a tiny Portland company got mixed up in gaming’s biggest controversy” with the game, “Gone Home“, created by Portland’s  The Fulbright Company.  “Gone Home”, created by a small, lean team, ended up being the most talked about game of 2013 and was lauded “the greatest video game love story ever told” by the New York Times.  The Fullbright Company were awarded the Best Debut in both the BAFTAs and the Game Developers Choice Awards for “Gone Home” (2013) and were a Finalist for Excellence in Narrative by the Independent Games Festival. Hinge’s Kitty Litter Spot is the Cats Meow!

Avoid a cat-astrophe in the bathroom! In an original pitch spot called “Cat’s Meow: The Interruption,” Hinge’s creative team brings attention to a very real problem facing cats and their owners everywhere.

The concept was developed in-house and shot with Portland crew and talent. The animation and post team created and integrated a photo real CG cat into the live action plates — all with a dash of litter humor.

The role of “FX Artist” working on a film is a fun one indeed.  FX Artists are tasked with creating dynamics and particle animations that create flashy effects like explosions, psunami level tidal waves, smoke, buildings crumbling, and other such epic imagery that make summer blockbusters all the more fun.

Microsoft tapped Hinge to create two :30 retail attract loops for the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3. Hinge was responsible for the original creative and developed both horizontal and vertical versions for use in store and out of home displays.

Oregon Animator, Stefan Nadelman, Animates Sequence In Kurt Cobain Doc

Oregon animator, Stefan Nadelman, created the sequence above for the Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary that premiered at Sundance this year.  Nadelman worked with Cobain’s own drawings to bring them to life.  The New York Times referenced this animated sequence “of (Cobain’s) adolescence, set to his own taped narration, is the best part of the film.”  You can see the whole documentary on HBO tonight.

iOPIF to Begin Accepting New Applications May 4th

July 1st will mark the beginning of a new fiscal year and a new round of funding for our film incentive programs. As a result, we are preparing to open up the application process for our “local filmmaker” program, commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

Bent Image Lab‘s “Polariffic” was accepted at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in the “TV Films in Competition” category.  Congratulations to the Bent team, comprising of, director Rob Shaw, producer Marissa Weisman, writer Allan Neuwirth, Music Composer Charles-Henri Avelange, and BENT Executive Producers Tsui Ling Toomer and Ray Di Carlo.  Annecy International Film Festival takes place June 15th – 20th in Annecy, France.
