Join us (tomorrow (Thurs 7/23 at 12pm PT) for the live online debut of “Pedal Through“, a film about three young black women taking on a week-long bike packing adventure full of joy, healing, and mentorship with mother nature in Oregon’s backcountry. Athena Joins The Oregon Film Trail

A brand new Oregon Film Trail sign has been installed and was unveiled today in Athena, honoring the town’s starring role as a location in the silent film, City Girl.  It sits outside the Gem Theatre, Athena.  The Gem Theatre hosted the dedication of the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail, in celebration of the local filming of this F.W. Murnau silent feature film.

Winter Season Grant – “Wish You Were Here” – Blue Chalk Media

Blue Chalk Media were the winners the 2019 $15,000 “Winter Season Grant” – provided by the OregonMade Creative Foundation and Travel Oregon – and have now successfully created two short films of “moving postcard stories” based on the brief to make a film series that would “captivate and encourage people to experience the winter season for themselves.”

Last year Blue Chalk Media won the $15,000 “Winter Season Grant” – provided by the OregonMade Creative Foundation and Travel Oregon – and have now successfully created two short films of moving “postcard stories” (one of which is available above) that were designed to, “captivate and encourage people to experience the winter season for themselves.”

Oregon Film Trail Continues in Salem!

Two Oregon Film Trail signs were unveiled over the week end honoring Salem’s starring role as a location for “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” (the honors being done by Oregon Museum of Mental Health Museum Curator, Megan Lallier-Barron and Dennie Brooks, Board Member.)  The signs mark two different filming locations related to the now classic feature film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” and feature facts and anecdotes about the film. The Oregon Outdoors & Health Grant Announce Winner!

Congratulations to, John Waller’s Uncage The Soul team with their winning pitch – “Teens In Trees”   – the Outdoors and Health Film Grant 2019-20 was awarded this week.  This new grant, provided by the #OregonMade Creative Foundation, and in conjunction with Travel Oregon,  offers $15,000 in funding to make a short film that explores the notion that spending time outdoors can improve health outcomes for us all.

Uncage The Soul’s team, lead by John Waller, in partnership with Expedition Old Growth, and assisted by Friends of Outdoor School, will create a short film that will, “follow three urban adolescents from Portland as they ditch their devices and adventure offline into Cascade old growth forest to spend the night high in a tree canopy. The Oregon Outdoors & Health Grant – Now Accepting Submissions Through May 17th

Oregonians and visitors are inspired by nature. It feeds our souls and enriches our well-being. We instinctively know that a life spent outdoors, is a life well spent indeed. Not coincidently, it also turns out that taking time off to explore and spend time in nature can heal us.

The successful Outdoors Film Grant project will tell a unique story that correlates the effects of spending time outdoors with better health and well-being.
