The Oregon Outdoors & Health Grant Announce Winner!

Congratulations to, John Waller’s Uncage The Soul team with their winning pitch – “Teens In Trees”   – the Outdoors and Health Film Grant 2019-20 was awarded this week.  This new grant, provided by the #OregonMade Creative Foundation, and in conjunction with Travel Oregon,  offers $15,000 in funding to make a short film that explores the notion that spending time outdoors can improve health outcomes for us all.

Uncage The Soul’s team, lead by John Waller, in partnership with Expedition Old Growth, and assisted by Friends of Outdoor School, will create a short film that will, “follow three urban adolescents from Portland as they ditch their devices and adventure offline into Cascade old growth forest to spend the night high in a tree canopy. Portland Art Museum and Northwest Film Center Announce New Northwest Film Center Director and Curator

The Portland Art Museum and Northwest Film Center are pleased to announce that Amy Dotson will be the next director of the Northwest Film Center. Dotson comes to the Film Center from the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the oldest and largest organization in the United States championing the future of storytelling on all platforms, where she served as the Deputy Director & Head of Programming for over 13 years.

Winners of the #OregonMade Doc Camp Fellowship Awards Announced

#OregonMade Creative Foundation and NW Documentary/Oregon Doc Camp would like to congratulate the Oregon Doc Camp Fellowship Winners for 2019, Jordan Thierry and Sommer Martin.

Oregon  Doc Camp  Fellows will receive room and board at Oregon Doc Camp in Silver Falls Conference Center from May 30-June 2nd, as well as a half hour documentary consulting session with our esteemed presenter, Iyabo Boyd.

My name is Janet Weiss and I live a double life. A Portland, OR resident since 1989, I moved here from the Bay Area to play music and to take advantage of cheap rent and basements in which to practice. I’ve been the drummer in Sleater-Kinney and Quasi ever since (amongst others). Ten years ago I got myself an amazing day job… Location Manager! #OregonMade “Shrill” Renewed For 2nd Season

Hulu has renewed ‘Shrill,’ starring Aidy Bryant, for Season 2 for eight episodes.  Based on the book by Lindy West.

The series launched this March to positive reviews (according to the Hollywood Reporter, the series currently has a 91 percent rating among critics and 80 percent score among viewers on RottenTomatoes.com.)  “Shrill” shot in and around Portland last year.

IFC’s Renews #OregonMade “Documentary Now!” For Fourth Season!

We are still enjoying season 3 of IFC’s, “Documentary Now!” and just in – we hear that they are renewing for a season 4!

Many talented local crew worked on this current season and we are proud to call it #OregonMade!  Season has seen more great guest stars such as; Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Cate Blanchett among others, and the series was created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, John Mulaney and Seth Meyers.

The Oregon Outdoors & Health Grant – Now Accepting Submissions Through May 17th

Oregonians and visitors are inspired by nature. It feeds our souls and enriches our well-being. We instinctively know that a life spent outdoors, is a life well spent indeed. Not coincidently, it also turns out that taking time off to explore and spend time in nature can heal us.

The successful Outdoors Film Grant project will tell a unique story that correlates the effects of spending time outdoors with better health and well-being.

The Outdoor Adventure Film Grant 2019 Announces A Winner!

The second annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG19) announces the winning application – “Three Sisters, Three Rivers” – filmmakers Aly Nicklas, Meredith Meeks and Analise Cleopatra, will spend ten days this summer bikepacking 325 miles through some of Oregon’s most iconic landscapes. Beginning in Bend and ending near Roseburg, the film will address both barriers and entry points for access to wilderness—especially for those of us who are raised without a relationship to the outdoors.
