2020 POW Film Fest – Local Edition – is ON!

The 2020 POW Film Fest – Local Edition will take place virtually Thursday October 1st! All proceeds from the ticket sales of this event will benefit The Clinton Street Theater.

POW Film Fest is Portland’s premiere film festival showcasing films directed by women and non-binary filmmakers. Now in its 13th year, the festival features the work of some of today’s top directors, while honoring the true pioneers and recognizing the next generation of leading women and non-binary filmmakers. Over the years POW has striven to encourage thoughtful and engaged discourse of the female perspective while heralding the need for greater parity in the film industry through the keen discerning eyes of women and non-binary film and media makers.

#OregonMade Feature Film “Alone” Releases Tomorrow (Sept. 18)

The #OregonMade feature film ALONE is releasing tomorrow on over 170 screens (roughly 50 drive-ins), as well as on VOD.

Set in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, the film follows recently widowed Jessica who, fleeing the city in a desperate attempt to cope, is kidnapped and locked away in a mysterious man’s cabin. Her escape from the clutches of this murderous captor land her in the heart of the untamed wilderness, with only her wits to rely on for survival as her pursuer closes in.

“PHOENIX, OREGON” Movie’s Namesake, the City of Phoenix, OR, Wiped Out by Wildfire but the Producers Seek Funds to Rebuild

In the evening of Tuesday, September 8, 2020, a fast moving wildfire swept through the town of Phoenix, Oregon burning hundreds of homes and businesses, leaving almost the entire town flattened.

This is an especially monumental blow to the filmmaking team behind the 2020 theatrically-released comedy “Phoenix, Oregon”. Not only is the film named after the town, but several crew and family members of the producers lost homes.

Producer, Luis Rodriguez, who lives in Phoenix, Oregon saw family and friends lose everything and is still himself evacuated.

BendFilm Presents: $7,500 BIPOC Womxn Film Grant

BendFilm is offering a $7,500 production grant for BIPOC Womxn artists.

TIMELINE / DEADLINES:

  • Grant application launches Wednesday, August 26
  • Application due Wednesday, September 23.
  • BendFilm will notify finalists on October 1.
  • Live pitches will take place during the BendFilm Festival October 8 – 25

On-screen representation affects cultural understanding of BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+ characters. Barriers need to be broken down until equal representation is achieved on-screen and behind the camera. Better understanding and exposure between neighboring cultures will help create dialog, cooperation, and partnerships that strengthen the interconnectivity of Central Oregon.

Picture This: LED Volume Live Compositing Utilizing Unreal Engine

Using Unreal Engine, OptiTrack motion tracking systems and full frame camera sensors Picture This are now able to change time of day, camera POV and set locations in minutes.

All with realistic parallax in the backgrounds.

Multiple locations are now possible without company moves.

Volume back wall is 2.6mm with 12 foot side walls and ceiling. These pictures are from the demos from early testing on half size, this will be followed by full volume tests.

#EOFF2020 Sneak Peek & Program Release Virtual Event

EOFF2020 Sneak PeekEastern Oregon Film Festival will share the details of its eleventh annual program via a virtual ‘Sneak Peek’ event on the evening of Wednesday September 16. At 7:00pm, guests will be able to log in, buy a pass, and watch the #EOFF2020 ‘Trailer of Trailers’ promo video. Starting at 8:00pm, festival Director Christopher Jennings will be going live on the Eventive platform to outline more details about this year’s lineup, ticketing and membership options.

After the ‘Trailer of Trailers’ becomes available on September 16th, attendees will have 4 hours 30 minutes to start watching, and can view the video for the next 24 hours.

SmithRock.Com – An Extra Resource For Filming At Smith Rock State Park

SmithRock.com is an owner-run resource for people wanting to visit Smith Rock State Park, and pitches itself as, “an independent online guide for adventurers” that want to explore the park. For productions thinking of shooting at the Smith Rock State Park, you must first contact the park manager (at 541-548-7501) for all permit requests and questions about filming in the 650 acres that make up the park.
Marcia and Mike Volk are the husband and wife team behind SmithRock.com.  They started their business 20 years ago offering resources for rock climbers and have since expanded the site to the “250+ pages it is today, with the goal to “edutain”  their audience of 69,000 page views per month to give them a greater appreciation for this special place to keep it intact for generations to come.

Schedule announced for KIFF2020

FF2020 is the premier Oregon-centric film festival. Categories include documentaries, feature-length films, shorts, and student films — all made in Oregon or by Oregon filmmakers.

After an exhaustive judging and selection process, we are coming down the final stretch  to the 2020 Klamath Independent Film Festival. The eighth annual festival will be quite different than years past, but still present the best in Oregon filmmaking.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person audience will be restricted to only 100 people total at The Ross Ragland Theater each day.

#EOFF2020 Official Selections Announcement & Update

Eastern Oregon Film Festival will be celebrating its eleventh year of independent film and music programming VIA La Grande, Oregon on October 22-24, 2020. This year EOFF joins a trend that we are all becoming more accustomed to – virtual cinema. Working with Eventive, an event management platform, EOFF now has the means to deliver this year’s program to our growing audience in their homes, but also the potential to reach far more audience members than ever before.

The full digital program, schedule, trailers and ticket options will be available September 17, following a special virtual ‘Sneak Peek’ event on Wednesday evening, September 16 at 8:00pm.

#OregonMade “The Waterman” To Premiere At TIFF

#OregonMade, “The Waterman” is Golden Globe-nominated actor, David Oyelowo’s feature directorial debut and will feature in the  Toronto International Film Festival lineup for 2020 as one of the festival’s special events.

 

“The Water Man” is one of two specially selected family films for the festival and stars Oyelowo alongside Rosario Dawson, Maria Bello and Alfred Molina and is a mystical adventure that recalls family-friendly movies of the 1980s.
