This fall the annual St. Helen’s Spirit of Halloweentown festival will transform this small Oregon town into a spooky, family-friendly destination for six weekends beginning September 18 and running through October 31. This year celebrity guest appearances from Ashley Greene, (Alice Cullen) “Twilight” and movie actors J. Paul Zimmerman and Phillip Van Dyke from“Halloweentown” have been added to its abundant offering of family-friendly events.
The fast-growing sector of Film Tourism has been on Oregon Film’s radar for multiple years and was one of the many compelling reasons that motivated and helped develop the Oregon Film Trail. The Trail is now totalling 33 stops (and growing) and stitches together communities, locations, small businesses and notable film sites at iconic filming locations and strategic points across Oregon. The markers create a presence and a point of interest for visitors to gather, take pictures, retell stories, and celebrate Oregon’s rich contribution to filmmaking since the early 1900’s.
“Lorelei” stars Pablo Schreiber (Den of Thieves, Orange is the New Black, The Wire) and Jena Malone (The Hunger Games, The Neon Demon, Inherent Vice), along with a cast of local actors cast by Simon Max Hill, including Amelia Borgerding, Parker Pascoe-Sheppard and Chancellor Perry (three upcoming child actors) who make their acting debuts in the movie. The Oregon Confluence featured Perry last year about his experience on the film.
“Lorelei “was written and directed by Sabrina Doyle.

A printed map and SetJetters movie scenes will be available. Continue reading... “Stand By Me Day – July 23rd – Brownsville”
My wife and I are career Youtubers. We travel the country in a 34′ class A Winnebago, documenting our adventures all the way. Between us, we host three channels. I am That Nate Guy on YouTube, Marion is Life Unboxed, and together we are Romancing The States. We recently had the honor of falling in love with the beautiful state of Oregon when the engine in our RV gave out while traversing the mountains of California. Instead of planting ourselves in a boring hotel for 2 months awaiting the repairs, we continued on our journey, exploring Oregon in our little yellow Pontiac G5. We are finally seeing the light at the end of a very long tunnel for many of us. This doesn’t mean the work is done or there won’t be challenges and changes going forward, but it does mean that we are starting to see more opportunity and more creativity in all areas of our industry here in Oregon.
A bunch of broke nobodies making a film in rural Oregon isn’t an easy proposition…
Sometime in 2016 I spoke to a group of confidants about making a movie on the sly. The plan was to keep expectations low and develop something we could be proud of but not, per se, something that should or would be released. I was at a pretty low place at the time, honestly. My previous filmmaking endeavors hadn’t exactly set the world on fire and I was now a parent supporting himself and family with manual labor jobs and barely scraping by.
