Ashland Independent Film Festival Announces Program Details

The Ashland Independent Film Festival has announced its lineup for the five-day, five-night festival April 6-10 in venues across Ashland. The 16th annual festival will give a nod to both the future and past with an exciting lineup that pays tribute to the roots of independent film, and new collaborations between film, art, and live performance.

Portland, Oregon – February 4, 2016 – The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (a.k.a. POWFest) is pleased to announce this year’s guest of honor, award-winning director and gender equality advocate, Catherine Hardwicke, who will be in attendance throughout the festival taking place March 3 – 6, at The Hollywood Theatre.  

Hardwicke’s direction of the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novel, Twilight, launched the worldwide blockbuster franchise, The Twilight Saga and earned nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office and made her made one of the most commercially successful women film directors. LUNAFEST Comes to Portland on January 25,  7:00 pm at Clinton Street Theater.

Established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, LUNAFEST connects women, their stories and their causes through film. This traveling film festival, which will visit over 175 cities this season, spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes. The Portland screening will be on January 25th, 7pm at the Clinton Street Theater as part of the POWMonthly Screening series, brought to you by the Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival.
