Portland, Oregon – February 15, 2012 – The Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (a.k.a. POWFest) is excited to announce the programming highlights of our upcoming 5th Anniversary festival scheduled to take place March 8 – 11, 2012 at the Hollywood Theatre.

COMPUTER ANIMATION FOR GRADES 7-12

at the Northwest Film Center School of Film

 

MONDAY-FRIDAY, DEC 26-30, NOON-5 PM

Bring two-dimensional graphic artwork to life using Adobe Flash software on Apple digital workstations. Learn how animators create motion using techniques such as keyframes, squash and stretch, and metamorphosis. Animate video stills and/or scan in and manipulate your own artwork. Record the action frame by frame as you create your own animated sequences with your own recorded audio. The week will culminate in a screening for family and friends, complete with popcorn. TRON Legacy “Byte by Byte”: Sunday at Mission Theatre in Portland

This Sunday it’s a meeting of the post-production kind, as OMPA teams up with AEPDX and 3dpdx to host visual effects artist Bradley G Munkowitz, to discuss his and his shop’s work on “TRON Legacy: Byte by Byte”, where Munkowitz (aka: GMUNK) takes apart the VFX of TRON Legacy, at the Mission Theatre in Portland.

The Lane Community College Media Arts Department and Chambers Family Foundation present the Transit 2011 Media Arts Conference from October 7-8 at the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19 Room 102, Lane main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene.
The two-day conference features a variety of experts, speakers and panelists from throughout the Western United States to present on broad range of topics from emerging trends in media arts to working in major film studios to writing scripts to the politics of the music industry. Five Spots Remain for Next HD/Film Makeup Workshop

Colour Box Makeup Studios founder Kerry Herta, a 2011 Emmy nominee, returns to Portland to teach aspiring makeup artists the latest techniques used in HD/Film makeup.

While these workshops were scheduled to accommodate students on waiting lists following workshops earlier this year in Portland and Seattle, there are still five spots remaining.  The workshops – the five-day Makeup Artist Boot Camp and one-day Airbrush Seminar – will be held Aug. 31-Sept. 5, 2011, and are again limited to 12 aspiring artists, all of whom will be trained by Herta and complete assignments using live models and industry-leading products and equipment.
