U of O Cinema Studies Doctorate’s Film Premieres March 19th

Produced by Dr. Carter Soles, the Indy film incubator Fleem Productions announces the release of “A Tale of Persephone,” their second fiction film. A film noir coming-of-age story, this artsy adaptation of the mythic transformation of the Princess of the Grain into the Queen of the Underworld follows up Fleem’s debut, the award-winning 2008 sci-fi parody “Spidertron”.

Shot on location in Oregon, “A Tale of Persephone” features backdrops in Eugene, Portland, and Lowell. “Franklin Wunder” Screening in Astoria

After receiving good reviews at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, the new independent movie, “FRANKLIN WUNDER” will have a second advance screening at 3pm on Sunday, April 3rd, at the Columbian Theatre in Astoria.  Filmed in Portland & Astoria, the film is the tender story of a dying man searching for some meaning to his past … and of a young woman he meets searching for a meaning to her future.  The screening is open to the public. 2011 Shaping up to be Big Year for Oregon Film and Television Jobs

The Governor’s office of Film and Television reports that 2011 will be the biggest year for total dollars spent on film and television projects in Oregon’s history. Two television series filmed in Oregon, “Leverage” and “Portlandia,” have already announced that their networks have renewed their series.

Testimonial Videos from the Local Film Community in Support of Oregon’s Film Incentive Programs

The videos embedded here are just two examples of testimony from local companies that have directly benefited from Oregon’s film incentive programs.  These videos will be played for the Oergon State Legislature at the continuation of the initial house hearing (on HB 2167) this Friday.  HB 2167 proposes increasing the annual amount allocated to the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF).

The testimonial videos from Mark “Sparky” Haleston of STP/Elite and Lana Veenker of Lana Veenker Casting will be submitted along with personal testimony from several other people from the Oregon Film community.
