Synopsis: “A filmmaker seeking inspiration for her next movie brings her volatile husband and defiant young son camping on the Oregon coast. When her competing desires to be a good mother and creative artist come to a hilt, she reaches a painful but powerful breakthrough.” Prior to the film, Lindsay Baltus will kick off the evening with her storytelling piece “Pregnant in the Archives,” inspired by her personal experience with childbirth, interspersed with archival recordings of a feminist consciousness-raising groups of the 1970s. #OregonMade “Above the Trees” Comes to Portland

During an extensive tour throughout Oregon, Southern Oregon shot “Above the Trees,” the 5th movie produced by local filmmakers Joma Films (who made Phoenix, Oregon, Calvin Marshall, and Redwood Highway), screens for one night only at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland this Wednesday May 22 at 7pm.
The filmmakers, director Gary Lundgren and producer Annie Lundgren, will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening.

Come watch a stellar film made under the SAG micro-budget agreement. Learn about producing films in Oregon with both regional and Hollywood actors and the ins-and-outs of self distribution.

New Sign Unveiled in Baker City, Enhancing the “Eastern Loop” of the Oregon Film Trail

The Oregon Film Trail, known for its markers at iconic Oregon film locations, will unveil its newest sign on the north exterior wall of the historic Geiser Grand Hotel.  The new Trail marker commemorates the film version of the Broadway musical comedy, “Paint Your Wagon”, a beloved production that featured Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood, and Jean Seberg. The public was invited to attend and some attendees shared their filming stories from their time working on”Paint Your Wagon”. Many local Baker County residents were hired to work as crew and background actors, and some provided pictures and anecdotes at the event of their time working on the show. MetroEast Presents Food Foray!

We are thrilled to invite you to a very special screening of the first three episodes of MetroEast’s original docu series, FOOD FORAY!

Imagine Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown but at local grocery stores with a host named Jess. Each episode takes us on a food journey through east Portland while we learn about our immigrant neighbors. Portland Community College Plans Animation Degree, Backed by Laika

In an exciting development for the Oregon animation community, Portland Community College announced plans to offer an animation degree beginning in 2025, partly funded by a $60,000 donation from Oregon film studio Laika.

Laika announced Tuesday that it will give $30,000 to the PCC Foundation in each of the next two years to help fund three new classes in animation and stop-motion filmmaking, and the new degree in animation and motion graphics.
