WIF-PDX Launches Innovative Educate/Incubate Program


Women in Film Portland (WIF-PDX) is proud to announce the launch of a new program, Educate/Incubate, designed to advance the careers of local women and nonbinary filmmakers in the Portland film community. The program will be one of the largest in scope ever run by WIF-PDX. It will include public educational events, a cohort of hand-picked resident filmmakers, and a community screening. The organization is hiring a part-time coordinator position to assist with the program.

New Trailer for Sci-Fi Winemaking Short

The trailer for a new sci-fi short film, set in Oregon wine country, is out now. The Winemaker, written and directed by Sarey Martin, tells the story of a winemaker with a cosmic secret, who must decide whether to run from her enemies or stay to finish the year’s vintage under threat of violence.

New Sci-Fi Short “The Winemaker” Will Draw Inspiration From The Oregon Female Winemaking Community

A new sci-fi proof-of-concept film, drawing on inspiration from the natural winemaking community in Oregon–and especially its female champions–is in pre-production. THE WINEMAKER is about Joanie, who harbors a cosmic secret, but must finish the year’s vintage before her enemies come for vengeance.

The project is now crowdfunding on Seed & Spark. Having made its initial goal in only 17 days (with help from producers Andy Gould and Jon “Shabba” Linton), the project is now raising funds for post-production.
