Theatrical Trailer for “Meek’s Cutoff”

We noticed this weekend that the theatrical trailer for Kelly Reichardt’s feature film “Meek’s Cutoff” is now online.   “Meek’s Cutoff” is due in theaters this April.  More details on the film can be found here.

According to the film’s website, “Meek’s” will be in Portland on April 22 (Fox Tower), Bend on May 13 (Regal Pilot Butte 6), and Salem on May 13 (Salem Cinema).

HDFEST Portland High-Definition Film Festival, December 6th-9th

HDFEST PortlandPast festival events have taken place in Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Chicago, London… and now PORTLAND!  HDFEST Portland is taking place December 6th-9th at the Living Room Theaters. Tickets are $9 and are available at the festival box office and through the web.

Details, trailers and schedule of features, shorts, music video, animations and experimental films screenings are now up. Restless, starring Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland) and Henry Hopper (Dennis Hopper’s son), is set in Portland and shot on location in the greater metro late last year.  Written by  Jason Lew (The Experiment) and directed by Portland native, Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting, Finding Forrester) is set to be released January 2011. The Mountain Crumbles at Salem Film Festival 2010

“The Mountain Crumbles”, a feature drama by Portland/New York based director Matt Jay, will see it’s home state premiere this sunday, October 17th, at the 2010 Salem Film Festival.

The film tracks the events of a weekend camping trip between two brothers who appear to have grown apart over the years. The already fragile relationship receives it’s real test when the brothers meet and are joined by a mysterious young woman, whose presence changes the dynamic of the trip.

Meek’s Cutoff Selected For Toronto Film Festival

Meek's Cutoff was shot entirely on location in the high desert in Burns, Oregon

The Toronto Film Festival has announced its 2010 lineup.  Among them is Kelly Reichardt’s “Meek’s Cutoff” as part of the Comtemporary World Cinema  Programme.

Kelly Reichardt directed the short films Ode (99), Then a Year (01) and Travis (04). Her feature films include River of Grass (94), Old Joy (06), which won a Tiger Award at the 2006 Rotterdam International Film Festival, Wendy and Lucy (08), which was named best film of 2008 by the Toronto Film Critics Association. Independent Film Meet Jane Doe Rolls Cameras on July 12th


Portland, OR – The eagerly anticipated inaugural feature film for local filmmaker Jacqueline Gault of JackSpeed Productions begins principal photography on July 12th at Dante’s nightclub in downtown Portland. The film follows two women: Jane, a dowdy toy store employee played by Audrey Walker, and Ruby a saucy cabaret performer played by Jacqueline Gault, as their lives suddenly intersect and Jane is thrust into Ruby’s dark world. Jane’s life gets turned upside down as she learns the details of her past and just how interconnected her life is with Ruby. Spirit of Halloweentown Festival Voted In Top 16 Best Halloween Events In The US

It is gratifying to see the travel discovery platform, TripsToDiscover, name St. Helens’ own Spirit of Halloweentown Festival one of the “16 Best Halloween Events in the US” – not bad for a festival in a small town of 14,000. So how did this all begin?
