The McMinnville Short Film Festival wants YOUR film! Our regular submission deadline is Monday, December 31. Submit your film today via FilmFreeway !

We accept all genres as long as they are no longer than 20 minutes. Animation films will be eligible for the Will Vinton Best Animation Award. Environmental films will be eligible for the Recology Award. All Official Selections will be eligible for the Grand Jury Prize which includes a $500 cash award as well as a trophy!

“Lifeboat” Makes Oscar Shortlist

The powerful short film “Lifeboat” from #OregonMade filmmaker Skye Fitzgerald has made the Oscar shortlist for Short Form Documentary.

“Lifeboat” showcases the crisis of refugees desperate enough to risk their lives in rubber boats leaving Libya in the middle of the night and pushing off into the unknown, despite a high probability of drowning. With few resources, but certain that civil society must intervene, a team of global volunteers risks the waves of the Mediterranean to pluck refugees from sinking rafts. Four #OregonMade Film Projects Win 2018 Portland Post Production Grants

The Portland Film Office, in partnership with the Oregon Made Creative Foundation, has announced the recipients of its first Portland Post Production Grant Program.  Selected from a pool of twenty applicants, four local filmmakers will receive $5,000 for their respective projects.


The grant program is intended to support the professional development of local Portland filmmakers by providing funds for such activities as sound, picture editing, color matching, color grading, closed caption, tech specs for distributors, and music clearances using local post-production houses. OPIF Tax Credit Auction – December Edition

The Oregon Department of Revenue will be holding another auction for approximately $1M in tax credits for the 2018-19 Oregon Production Investment Fund (“OPIF”). The auction will be held for 3 days only from Wednesday to Friday, December 5-7, 2018. The credits will be sold in $500 increments and the minimum bid will be 95% of face value (i.e. $475 for a $500 credit). Multiple increments can be purchased. Portland Dark: The Writer’s Speak!

The #OregonMade Creative Foundation and Comcast are proud to be supporters of Lower Boom’s Diversity and Inclusion Writing Initiative. This project is focused on giving diverse and historically disenfranchised writers an opportunity to write for TV. Currently, six writers are gathering on a weekly basis to work on the pilot and series script for an original, home grown prestige drama, Portland Dark.

Portland Native Screenwriter Wins 2018 Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship

On September 18, 2018, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Allison (Solberg) Buckmelter, a Portland native, and her husband Nicolas Buckmelter, won the prestigious 2018 Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship award.

Three individuals and one writing team have been named winners of the 2018 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. The fellows will each receive a $35,000 prize, the first installment of which will be distributed at the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards Presentation & Live Read at Beverly Hills’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Thursday, November 8.
