McMinnville Short Film Festival Announces 13th Festival Edition

McMinnville, OR becomes a destination for art and culture this February for the 13th edition of the McMinnville Short Film Festival! MSFF is excited to announce the lineup for 2024, with over 100 short films from filmmakers all over the world screening in the heart of Oregon Wine Country February 23rd-25th. All films will be showcased at the McMinnville Cinema followed by a Filmmaker Q&A.

This year marks the 13th edition of MSFF, and will feature events for pass holders and industry networking opportunities for visiting filmmakers in addition to screening its official selections: 

  • “HOW TO BUILD CAREER SUCCESS FROM YOUR SHORT FILM” PANEL, hosted by industry professionals.

Women in Film PDX Announce Vision Grant Winners

Women In Film Portland (WIF-PDX) recently announced that local filmmakers Fran Bittakis and Betty Alcaraz are the recipients of the WIF-PDX 2023 Vision Grant, a signature program that supports production of a film by a local female or nonbinary storyteller every year. Over four dozen people applied for the 2023 funds. A committee made up of WIF-PDX board members and two award winning filmmakers, Alicia J. FujiFilm Presents: The Making of “CHISPA”

Recently Portland based filmmaker (and Tell Your Story Grant recipient) Karina Lomelin Ripper teamed up with FujiFilm to make her film “Chispa.”

FujiFilm then made a wonderful behind-the-scene short doc about the making of the film.

Top Secret Club Wrap Party & Awards

Over the past six weeks five panelists composed of professional writers/filmmakers/actors have read and scored all of the 2023 Top Secret Club scripts.

We are excited to say that the winners of the 1k grants made possible through the Creative Opportunity Program have been selected and we are excited to announce them on Monday November 13th at Desert Island Studios!

KINO Short Film Fest Open for Submissions

KINO is excited to share with Oregon filmmakers the KINO Short Film Fest. Proudly sponsored by Panavision and Final Draft. Top prizes include the Judge’s Choice Award of $25,000 and the People’s Choice Award of $5,000. Filmmakers also have the chance for KINO (a Film Finance Company) to transform their short film (or another idea) into a full-length feature film. No other film festival offers this.

Oregon Film Museum to Present “Selig Award”

The Oregon Film Museum seeks to inspire the next generation of storytellers in Oregon.  We are excited to announce the “Oregon Film Museum Selig Award” that will be presented annually to a young Oregonian involved in the local film industry.

Partnering with “Outside the Frame” we have identified the first recipient: Fevan “Rose” Solomon.

Solomon will receive the award and a small stipend on November 10 at the Liberty Theater in Astoria at 7:00 pm.  Solomon’s documentary film “Stories I’ve Told the Stars” will be screened followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker.  Continue reading... “Oregon Film Museum to Present “Selig Award””
