#OregonMade “Lazareth” to be Released May 10

Ignore those skyline shots of a post apocalyptic Seattle because this one is #OregonMade.

“Lazareth” follows Lee (Ashley Judd), an aunt whose life mission is to protect her orphaned nieces, Imogen and Maeve, from a self-destructing world, raising them in isolation until an outsider threatens their peaceful existence.

Starring: Ashley Judd, Sarah Pidgeon, Katie Douglas, Edward Balaban, and Asher Angel. Directed by: Alec Tibaldi.

“Lazareth” will be released on May 10, 2024.

#OregonMade “New Life” Drops Trailer

A new feature film shot in Portland, Enterprise and the Wallowas opens in theaters and will be available on streaming platforms on May 3.

“New Life” tells the story of a mysterious woman on the run, and the resourceful fixer assigned to bring her in. Their two unique stories inextricably link, as the stakes of the pursuit rise to apocalyptic proportions.

The thriller stars Sonya Walger, Hayley Erin, and Tony Amendola. Written and directed by John Rosman.

The Portland Events and Film Office Post-Production Grant

THE 2024 POST-PRODUCTION GRANT APPLICATION OPENS MARCH 20, 2024.

The Portland Events and Film Office, in partnership with Travel Portland, is proud to offer a grant opportunity for Portland-based independent film productions to support and offset the cost of the post-production process.

The funding is designed to encourage the completion of a local feature-length film and position local producers to build toward larger, more resourced productions. Past recipients of the Post-Production Grant have included “Nora” by Anna Campbell and Dawn Redstone Jones’ “Mother of Color,” the latter picked up by Amazon Prime Studios for world wide streaming distribution. BAMPIRE: New Bambi horror movie produced in Eugene, OR!

BAMPIRE, a new Bambi horror movie produced and filmed in Eugene, Oregon was just announced on Indiegogo! The film is an independent horror comedy directed by Taylor Morden (The Last Blockbuster) and written by Zoë Wassman both of whom are based in Eugene, OR. The Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign features first-look footage as well as limited edition merchandise and the ability to pre-order copies of the movie.

Tag! Queer Shorts Festival presents a vibrant perspective on queer life in its 11th anniversary edition on April 6-7, bringing 51 all-new films to Portland’s Hollywood Theatre. Celebrating the work of both local filmmakers and directors from as far away as Tunisia and Iran, Tag! selections are thought provoking, humanizing, and often a bit disruptive to typical discourses around sex, gender, and relationships.

Locally Produced “The Exploding Boy” Now Available on Streaming Platforms

After a successful festival run, screening in multiple countries and winning numerous awards including Best Actor and Best Dramatic Feature at the Oregon Independent Film Festival, locally produced film “The Exploding Boy,” an independent film shot predominantly in Portland, Oregon, has received distribution, both domestically and internationally. #OregonMade “Little Wing” Comes To Paramount+ March 13

#OregonMade LITTLE WING, a heartwarming coming-of-age story from Awesomeness, will premiere on Wednesday, March 13, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada, and the following day in the UK and Australia.

LITTLE WING follows Kaitlyn, a teen who is reeling from her parent’s divorce and the pending loss of her home. She and her best friend hope to solve her mother’s financial woes by stealing a valuable bird, but Kaitlyn, instead, forms a bond with the owner, that leads her to a new outlook on life.

PAM CUT’s Tomorrow Theatre will be showing several Oregon related Films and Performances in March. Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher’s beloved documentary “The Gospel of Eureka,” Astoria shot “Sometimes I Think About Dying” with Daisy Ridley and Kelly Reichardt’s “Showing Up” will be featured alongside screenings with support from Carla Rossi and local comedians and music videos.

#OregonMade “Point Break” at the Tomorrow Theatre Feb 24

To welcome in the King Tide tubes and help the ex-presidents finance an Endless Summer, the Tomorrow Theatre is screening “Point Break” as part of its “Night of 1000 Swayze’s” programming.  Join us to celebrate the rain of the Oregon Coast (specifically Indian Beach in Ecola State Park and downtown Wheeler) with Katherine Bigelow’s classic surf-thriller.

#OregonMade Doc “Downwind” Featured on OPB

OPB recently interviewed the filmmakers and featured participants of the locally produced documentary “Downwind.”

“Downwind” looks at how miscalculated wind forecasts, government proclamations that radiation exposure wasn’t a serious health threat, and revelations from now-declassified documents referring to those who lived near the test site as a “low use segment of the population” potentially contributed to illnesses suffered by Americans who were never warned about the dangers of living near the test sites.
